How is it YOU get ready for a Disney World Vacation?

I've got three months to go, I've been rechecking my daily iternary chart like something is going to change.

Although, I've been debating the idea of going on Disney Detox the month before; no internet radio, limit my podcasts down to the essentils (Inside the Magic, and WDW Today), and even, gasp, visit this site less. I worry I might actually burn myself out on Disney before we even get there. Maybe I'm being too cautious, but we haven't been in some time, and probably won't be back for a while, and I'd hate to loose any of the magic. I'll see how I feel when I'm down to 30 days.

I spend hours on disney website and forums.
I called the concierge 4 times in as many days.
I've written out the packing list, day by day, outfit by outfit....
I've gone shopping for essentials.
I've watched the disney planning DVD twice, which makes the kids (DD15 and DS19) mad, cause this is our 20th anniversary trip and they don't get to go! Am I mean or what???? No worries, they are going in Feb 08 for 10 days. I consider this a "scouting" trip! :ROFLOL:
I listen to "Pirates" soundtracks at work.
I downloaded numerous disney ringtones and wallpapers to my cell phone.
I downloaded fairy wallpapers to my office computer. My employees catch me on the disney website, all the time. (It's okay, I won't get fired, I'm the boss....)
I set up a disney enchanted call from Mickey to my husband. It should come while we are at the airport the day we leave.
I have a calendar countdown in my office on the wall.
I bought a WDW travel guide that I read every night.
I printed off the park maps for each area, with my "must do"
I've read every review I could find on the internet.
I look at the not live disney webcam at least 2 times a day.
I've google earthed the enitre WDW area.
I look at the weather.com every day.
I think I must be an over achiever.

Unfortunately our trip won't be until Feb. of 2008, but I'm already planning. Right now it's just in the thinking stages. As we get closer I start with my lists. I will have lists laying everywhere.:lookaroun Then I buy all of us new socks and undies. And they get packed right away. If I can pack it ahead, it gets packed. At about 2 months out our DD (10) and I make a countdown calendar. We glue pics of Disney characters on pages and number them. Every morning we rip a page off and do a dance. It's very exciting! Around the same time we start watching the planning DVDs. I think we have 3 or 4 and we watch them every weekend. Of course I'm reading the books right now and listening to the music. Oh, we have such a very long wait!

nice thread idea!

1) Watch last year's (or last trip's -whichever is applicable) video's/dvd/picture disc, etc. that we filmed/shot...

2) Begin to watch previous planning vid's or dvd's 'til new one arrives...

3) Re-watch for the bazillionth time whichever Disney films we feel like that night (this is easier to do when your favorite NBA team(s) have been eliminated from the playoffs - :( and :) -relieved actually)... just finished "A Bug's Life", "Snow White," and "Dead Man's Chest" this week....

4) Somewhere in all this we've already viewed the 2007 planning dvd twice - even the DL parts (still need a trip there with wife/family/or both)... They did a great job on this year's interface IMO...

5) Browse through all of my digital pictures on the laptop/desktop/ and yes, cell phone... end up changing desktop on the PC... laptop... and cellphone to pictures of Disney... even find more free graphics and junk online...

6) Find this forum (new for '07!) - and spend way too much time on it!

7) Read old multi-park "everything" brochure in center console of truck while waiting to pick up kids from school... memorizing tentative itinerary...

8) Every so often, primarily in day time hours when others from my party (10 relatives total this year!) are present, I'll scream out, "I'm goin' to Disney World!!!" The most excited family members respond, "Me too!!!" -high fives and cheers ensue...

9) Oh yes... I've even had dreams about being in-park already... several times since we decided to return (in March) this end of May/beginning of June...

10) And finally, posted this about it all!

10 days left! And I can't wait, especially so this year because although I have been to either DL or WDW a total of 7 times previously, I have the privilege of introducing 10 -count 'em ten- of my extended family to the Magic of Disney!

And seeing their enjoyment/making those memories together will be the best part...

Well, okay. I'll enjoy the rides too.:animwink:

So you have a week to go before you leave....

You obviously pack

Do you.........

Watch Disney movies?

Look at your photos from our previous trip?

Read you Birbaums book form cover to cover?

Spend at least 23 hours browsing wdwmagic?

Listen to disney music (cd's, ipod, sorcerer radio)?

What say YOU

Radiohost:cool:

With one week to go we do things a little different. 7 days before our trip we have a Disney day and watch all the trip planning videos we have. Then everyday we do a little something disney like look through a scrapbook.. or check over our plans. two days before the trip we stop all disney stuff. We pack up....and do not see anything disney until we pull into the drop off area of the Beach Club Villas

I'm leaving in 9 days!!!:ROFLOL:I'm starting to go crazy, I can't wait anymore! I try to do Disney related things everyday, to prepare for my trip. I'm kind of a planning freak, so I go over the itineraries I made a couple of weeks ago. I read some "Unofficial Guide" sections I've already read, just to refresh my memory. I watch Disney movies, I actually watched Cinderella yesterday and I plan to watch a couple of Winnie the Pooh movies with my husband this weekend. We also play a game called "Disney Scene it", my sister gave it to me for my birthday, it's like the regular Scene It game, but exclusively with Disney movies. And, last but not least, I come on this site everyday, and I am always so happy to see that I'm not the only Disney freak!:sohappy:

1) I work in a mall so i'm constantly going in and out of the Disney Store

2) I spend hours at a time on this website

3) I watch old home videos from past trips

4) I look through old pictures from past trips

5) I pack 2 months before we leave:lookaroun

6) I count down the days EVERYDAY

7) I dream about it almost every night:snore:

And the list goes on

Heck, I do that stuff (minus packing) even when I'm not anticipating a trip!

Now when I am preparing for a trip...oh boy!

Then, I...

*Of course, have those Disney Magical Butterflies fluttering around in my stomach, non-stop!
*Watch anything and everything on TV and video just so long as it's Disney-related!
*Start getting together any and all clothes that I can afford to pack before I go (it's OK to wear the same clothes for two weeks just so that I can have my suitcase packed, right?! )
*Check, double-check, and re-check our itinerary (and no, there is not allowable time for bathroom breaks.)
Side note: as for our trip planning itinerary...let's just say that with my Excel-based schedule, dining, EMH, and trip info that I make, the file is big enough that my computer often stops responding!

*I always say that I'm going to get extra rest leading up to the trip so that I'll have the needed energy...yeah, that never happens!
*Then, as the remaining days drop into the single digits, it really gets crazy - every thought that goes through my mind is Disney. Sometimes I find myself spacing out at work and dreaming that I'm walking down Main Street...ahh!

47 days to go...and I already am becoming unproductive at work!
