How Important?

I try to get to every rope drop at parks who are not doing early magic hours. Especially at HS, this way I can ride Toy Story Mania twice, one right when the park opens and again with my Fastpass.

Plus, getting there early can lead to surprises. Once, when we were early at AK and were asked to be the family of the day and open the park. What a great memory!

I have never been to a rope drop...never!! My family likes to sleep in a bit (we stay until park closing) and then we head on out to breakfast and the park at about 11. I really want to see it but the family (meaning the hubby, mainly) doesn't want to get out early. Maybe I will go with the kids this Summer and have the hubby meet me later on. We were close a couple of times but missed it by minutes.

How important is getting to rope drop to you? Are you nervous about being even a few minutes late or do you sleep in or are you somewhere in the middle? I think someone might need to check me in somewhere if something caused me to miss rope drop!

We are in the middle I guess. We do a RD at HS and MK at least once a trip each.try to for Epcot and AK but feel they are less "important" to make for RD. We have enough days in parks were we dont feel we have to be up early every day!

We're always there prior to rope drop - not really for the show, but because we want to be able to do everything we want before 11am and the crowds. My favorite WDW story is about my first time at DHS rope drop and the mad dash for TSMM! Where else would you get to see a bunch of middle age, slightly overweight men trying not to look like pre-teens at a One Direction concert while walk/running to the FP line?

Before children, we were much more laid back and able to take advantage of late hours in the parks, so rope drop was never a thought. Plus we typically go during the slow seasons, so we're not worried about missing out on something. When we took DD when she was an infant, we weren't even out the door before rope drop b/c we had 4 adults trying to get ready in 1 room, and we were really more about taking it easy and just enjoying what came our way on that trip. I'm sure now that older children are involved that will definitely change, and I can't wait to do MK rope drop w/ my little ones so they can be the first to walk in MK!
