How far out do you book?

Just wondering how far out everyone books. Whether or not you really need to book that far out doesn't make any difference. Whether you feel like you really need to book a certain distance out, or you just do it because that's when you prefer to do it, I'm just curious how far out, or how close to the trip do you prefer to book?

We're hoping to go next April, so if I can resist the tempation for another month, I plan to call next month and book it, even though it's a year out and there is probably no need to book that far out, in terms of getting an available room.

I really depends.

Sometimes its 11 months out for DVC

Other times it can be a 2 weeks out.

I have a trip/cruise booked in Aug

The cruise was booked over a year out

Airfare and room were booked about two months ago

I did it over a year out this trip because we were offered a bounceback of free dining. I usually get the free dining and that comes out in April, and I go at the end of September.

These days we plan about 2 months out. Our family is (for the time being, at least) just my husband and I, so it's pretty easy for us to just pick up and fly out (it's about a 2 hour direct flight from our hometown so getting there is fast.) We also don't typically go for a whole week at a time anymore (because we visit so often!) so we don't even have to take a full week off of work.

When we were still in college and planning around school and saving up the money to go, we usually had to plan out about 6 months or so in advance.

Do you guys normally stay at Value, Mod, and Deluxe resorts?

I said 4-5 months. There have been times when it was 6 or 7 and times when it was about 3. That's for booking.

As to planning the actual trip, that usually comes 1-2 months ahead, whenever we can get the group together (which is harder now that half of us are now in college).

We book usually about 8-11 months before desired date.... Although we start "planning" about 6 months before... so, in all, once we go on vacation, it'll be a year and a half of 'planning'.

167 days to go!!!! :sohappy:

We normally book at least a year in advance. One time it was just a couple of weeks before. DD softball team opted for not going to a tournament. We had already saved money for their national tournament. When the girls voted not to travel, we had the money and decided to go to wdw.

The reason we book so far out is because I like to budget our money for the trip. It is easier for us to put back some money on a weekly basis. We then do not have to keep our budget tight and are free to do things we may not otherwise do.
