How fanatic are Disney World fanatics?

My wife and I have been to WDW over 80 times in the last 40 years. It is a 14 hour drive or we would go more often.

The craziest trip was when we got a great airfare for flights to Orlando and back the same day on the 4th of July one year. Flew down early in the morning went to EPCOT for a few rides and lunch and they flew back home that evening.

I guess the most fanatical thing I did was a day trip from Detroit to Disneyland, Anaheim several years back.

I was in Detroit for business and had to spend the weekend there. Instead, I decided to do a "mileage run" for frequent flyer miles for some extra miles to qualify for "Platinum status". I flew out from DTW on Saturday morning, made it to LAX just before noon and to Disneyland a bit later. Spent the afternoon and evening in the park, then drove back to the airport and took the redeye back.

OK...The wife and I started going just in 2014, but both fell in love with the place, and just being there together....so lets see:

we bought into DVC after the 4th trip ( AKL)
Sold my Jeep Wrangler for a Subaru Outback, which I call the Florida bus since we drive. (needed more comfortable ride down from NJ)
We spend summers at home, floating around in the pool, listening to AKL music loop.
On DVC, we usually have 2 trips booked at once....so the planning for next trip starts pretty much right after we get home..

Not very radical, but its funny how one trip there changed so much of our day to day

It had always been my dream to eventually move to Orlando (been in Florida for 12 years, Orlando 2). I was lucky enough to fulfill moving to Orlando by the time I was 25, with a career in the area.

My entire condo is largely Disney. Disney art, Disney figurines, Disney etc. This is my favorite area of the living room! I go to the parks about once a week. View attachment 294152
ohmygod I need this in my life lol. I'm hoping to go to college down in Orlando, only two more years.

I thought I was fanatical but you all are even better! This year I went to DL in the first week of January, WDW in the third week of January, and WDW again just last week. Everyone I know IRL things I'm nutty but you guys get me ;):)

I go a few times a month and it never feels like enough. I'm blessed to be able to go and not feel like I get tired of it. I love theming, and appreciate the art of it..

Ya know. I like Disney. I do. But I don't have anything at the house to prove it.

If you look close at my pin collection (I have them from all over everyplace) you would note some Disney destinations there, but that is it.

I may have to rectify this unfortunate situation.

I feel like some Disney fans intensely love WDW. I'd love to hear your stories about what's the most fanatical thing you've done? Get sney tattoos? Decorate your house to Disney? Move to Orlando for WDW? Have you been to ever major expansion on opening day in recent years and waited in insanely long lines?

Most of us are married and have children. I don't know if that makes a difference, but it isn't like Star Wars fan boys and the reputation that follows them. It isn't like it is all nerdy men with no girlfriends and no driver's licences. Walt Disney started something that every one from every age could enjoy and it worked. Most Disney fanatics just love the place and it is no different than being a sports fanatic (I am one too). We pay taxes, have families, don't live with our parents and just love an alternate reality while on vacation. Nothing wrong with that.

That sounds really nice. My husband is retired from construction too, but can't seem to get him to "retire" altogether LOL!
It takes a lot of patience (which I & my husband don't have), to be a bus driver, especially at WDW. Kudos to you. I couldn't deal with some of those entitled people each day, but I guess the truly happy people and children must make up for it?
See you in December:)
Can't wait!!
