How fanatic are Disney World fanatics?

That sounds really nice. My husband is retired from construction too, but can't seem to get him to "retire" altogether LOL!
It takes a lot of patience (which I & my husband don't have), to be a bus driver, especially at WDW. Kudos to you. I couldn't deal with some of those entitled people each day, but I guess the truly happy people and children must make up for it?
See you in December:)
It is a test of your patience. But the good times and the cool stuff I get to experience as a CM is more than you could wish for. December, were here waiting for you, enjoy!

Woke up at 4am on a Saturday, drove my self 7 hrs straight to Disney. Checked in at the All Star Movies at noon. Then got on a bus and parked hopped HS, Epcot, and MK. Rode rides in each park. Then finished the night with DS. Next morning, woke up and drove the 7 hrs back home. That was the craziest thing I have ever done.
I drove down one morning, 2.5 hrs, rope dropped Hollywood Studios. Tower of Terror, single-rider Rock-n-Roller Coaster and Star Tours. Picked up the holiday seasonal pass holder magnet. Then went over to Epcot for Soarin', Mission Space and the American Adventure. Grabbed a fish and chips dinner before heading home. Counting the hours on the road, I still didn't hit your one-way.

I did 7hrs one day and 7hrs the next to celebrate my old boss's retirement. He had 3 other colleagues fly in. Was great to spend time with his old boss who is a real renaissance man. Also found out one of my colleagues grew up close to where I now live. Well worth it 14 hours in the car, as it sounds like yours were too.

I retired early from construction (51) sold the house in New England , came down to FL to pursue a job in the parks ( fun job). I work because I want to. It was always on my bucket list, I'm having a ball!!
That’s something I’ve always thought about doing as well! Let me ask you this, does working there take away any of the magic? What I rmean is, does WDW feel less special to you in any way because you are there daily and actually working a job?

Yes it has changed very much, once you see the mice without their heads it's not the same anymore. LOL I still enjoy being there ( even though I'm on the clock) but it's not the same 😟. I went to work there because it was on my bucket list and I wanted to see how it works. I get to see amazing things that are very cool and have a good understanding of how little details affect the big picture. Details that many guest don't notice. But at the same time some of these exciting things I am not allowed to discuss. So you feel like you want to explode. On the overall I'm not sorry I did it and I would do it again. For now I get my fun out of exploring new backstage things that are just not available to others.

When DS turned old enough to move out into his own apartment I told him I was taking over his bedroom and turning it exclusively into my Disney room. I had boxes of Disney memorabilia and souvineers in closets that finally had space to become permanently displayed.
Within days I transformed his room into my room and have used up all the wall and floor space. DS loves to tell his friends that I kicked him out so Disney could move in.

I am a fanatic and there are way too many things to even list. But off the top of my head, some fanatical things I have done related to Disney parks:

In 1995 as well as in 1996, I went to Disneyland all day and stayed til closing and then was on a flight to MCO and in WDW the next afternoon at 3pm. 10 days later I arrived back home in LA at 11pm and was at rope drop for Disneyland the very next morning at 8am. LOL So essentially I have been to DL and WDW a few times less than 12 hours apart.

Long before the DL and WDW Forever kiosks existed and before bootlegs or music from the parks had really become a thing, my brother and I used to use our Hi-8 video camera and videotape all of the BGM loops in DL and WDW. We usually would set the camera down in a planter or on a bench or somewhere near a speaker and just let it record until the loop finished. I remember spending 3 or 4 hours on our last day in the MK one year recording the Tomorrowland, Main Street, Fantasyland and Adventureland loops LOL

Other fanatical things that may be abnormal (o_O:eek::hungry:) to some were when I turned down a free upgrade to the Grand Floridian one summer when Disney over-booked the Poly. YES, I love the Poly THAT much!

Also, last summer I had already booked and had half my trip paid off for September and cancelled it and moved it up a whole week just so I could get to ride Splash Mtn my first 2 days before it went down for refurb. That turned out to be a really good move in hindsight for completely different reasons since Hurricane Irma would have cut short my vacation by a couple of days had I not re-scheduled it.

Yeah, I am crazy - like a fox.

I feel like some Disney fans intensely love WDW. I'd love to hear your stories about what's the most fanatical thing you've done? Get sney tattoos? Decorate your house to Disney? Move to Orlando for WDW? Have you been to ever major expansion on opening day in recent years and waited in insanely long lines?

I assume this rhetorical?

If not...can some of you foamers/dusters call and scare the crap out of the OP?
...you know who you are.
