How early should I buy tickets for MVMCP?

My DH and I are taking his brother and his brother's wife to WDW this Dec. 11-16. It's our first Christmas trip, and their first trip to WDW period, so I want to make sure I get tickets for MVMCP!!!

I keep seeing all these warnings to buy tickets for MVMCP early because they sell out fast, but exactly how early is "early"? I can't seem to find any specifics. Are we talking August? October? This very moment?

What would really help is if someone could give me information like "tickets started selling out mid-October last year...yada yada yada"

Thanks!

I was actually on that website looking over that info earlier this morning. :animwink:

Not that I'm trying to procrastinate, but what I'm really wanting to know is just how late I can wait to buy them and reasonably expect there to be tickets left. I would like to be able to buy them now, but financially it would be better if I could wait until August or September. If I absolutely have to, I could barely scrape by with buying them now, but I'd rather spare myself the stress and wait until the end of the summer. That's my dilemnia.

- Weekend nights will sell out faster than weekday nights.

- nights closer to Christmas itself will sell out faster

This (discount not available Nov 29, Dec 4, 11, 17-18; price is same as Day of Event tickets) tells me they expect to sell out these nights.

You have a choice of three dates...11th, 13th and 15th.

Based on the past, the last two dates, 17 and 19 will probably sell out. Of your dates, the 11th being a Friday will be crowded. 13 and 15 will probably not sell out. I wait until I am down and decide based on weather (then again I've been before and would not be upset if it was missed).

You can keep tabs on sales on these sites, and when you see the last dates or some weekends sell out (if they do) then you can make your purchase to be sure.

If you can use last year as an indicator, three dates sold out:

Dec. 19 (Friday) was announced sold out on the 11th of Dec.
Dec. 9th and 16th were announced sold out on the day of the event (AP/DVC discount dates)....AP/DVC discount dates for 2009 are Dec. 6 & 8

Now with that said, it also seems that the popularity of this event is increasing (not knowing what impact the economy will have this year) but in previous years many dates actually felt like an exclusive party, while the last two years have seen all dates fairly crowded.

Hope that helps you gauge your plans...again, sellouts are posted on this site, so you can get a measure of interest. I've not seen sellouts in October or November however.

Thank you - that's exactly what I was looking for! We were either going to go the 13th or 15th (probably the 15th since it's our last night there), so from the information you quoted, it looks like I shouldn't have a problem if I wait to buy them in Sept or Oct.

Thank you so much - you're always so helpful!!! :D
