How does Disney let this happen?

I'm a CM too, and although I don't work in attractions, I do know that Disney doesn't sell fp's.

The whole thing sounds like a scam and really unfair. Just get the one fp you're allowed for the hour, or whatever the time restriction is, go wait in line for something else, and have a great time! I mean come on, Disney isn't all about the rides, you all know that! If you want stuff like that go to Universal, why do you think they sell them???

Technically you are not free to keep them for yourself. However, ask any CM, past or present, and they will tell you they tend to pocket them. It's kind of like an extra perk for us. :D

I have even had managers see me take them and they just laughed. It's not like it's costing Disney anything, except for the printing costs. I personally NEVER sold them to anyone. I would keep them for myself and give some to my parents, friends, and other family members when they would visit the park.

There were even times when I was in the parks on my day off and I would give them to guests who I saw having a good time or guests that I started talking with that were nice. Speaking of which, even when I was working I would keep an eye out for a family and hand them out. And if guests were extra nice to me when I was working not only would I back door them, but I would give them a few of those passes.

So you see, not everyone is being "low" or however you want to state it, when it comes to these attraction re-enty tickets. It's just like all the other situations in this world, the bad ones ruin it for everybody.

It's nice that you'll give them out to Families, and things like that...but it's still wrong that you're taking them for your own personal gain. I get it's not that big of a deal..but still!

The tickets are usually divided in bundles of 100. Most boxes at the attractions will hold 5-6 bunches. I never took a bundle itself, as I would work Fast Pass return the guests would have to redeem them. The tickets are usually returned to the managers of the attractions area so I would place them in my pocket until I saw a manager. (I kept them in my pocket instead of placing them on the side so guests would not be able to snatch them) Anyway, sometimes I would go all night and not see a manager, or I would forget that I had them in my pocket. Once I would get home at night and empty my pockets I would have 10-20 of these things. So do the math, 10 a day, I worked for roughly a year. It's very explainable as you can see. :D

So you can honestly tell me that as a CM, you never went into a park and used the whole, "I'm a Cast member, can you get me through fast pass/on faster" routine? That is pretty much the samething as a CM keeping Attraction Re-Entry tickets. And where did I mention in any of my posts that I am using them for my own personal gain? I believe I said that I give them (GIVE them, NOT SELL) to family, friends, and even guests. Not trying to flame you or start an argument, just trying to make sense of this.

Disney does put dates on some of the Attraction Re-Entry/Baby Swap passes. Most of the dates range for about 7 - 10 days for the guest to use them. Which is fair considering the fact that they may not go back to the same park the very next day, or they have dining reservations and the ride will be closed by the time they are done.

I have seen dates on ToT, RnRC, and SM. This started up around 2005 when I was there. It seems that the major attractions are using dates, maybe they will have dates on all of them at some point.

In Future World at Epcot, Re-Entry and Rider Switch passes are printed out monthly. So they expire at the end of the month. MK usually doesn't have expiration dates on their Re-entry passes. I have seen expiration dates on Studios re-entry passes.

As a CM, I will admit it is difficult to check the dates on the original FP's because the date is printed so small. But with the re-format and newer Fastpass tickets the date is printed larger.

There are several more auctions through this seller... including how to take a DVC tour and receive the instant fastpass ticket. I would think that selling a Fastpass isn't legal, so if Disney were to catch it maybe the seller would get into some trouble (I'm not certain though, I'm not a lawyer).
What I find silly is why would someone spend over $100 for something that has no monetary value? Doesn't make sense to me.

I'm not certain if this is a CM or not. But some CM's do keep re-entry passes around to get friends and family into an attraction (you are not suppose to do it, but some do).

That's right. Sorry about the dates on the MK passes, I got that confused. But they deffinetly do have separate Attraction Re-Entry tickets for Space, Splash, and Big Thunder.

I have not seen the new Fast Passes yet, I will when I get there on Thursday. I know when I worked in Tomorrowland I stopped looking for dates after a period. Like you said, it's printed too small. I usually just looked for the times to make sure that that was at least right. I liked when I wokred Buzz and guests were like, "I have a fast pass from last year, can I still use it?" It was like, "Look at me, do you honestly think I care?" LOL

Some? LOL! That's an understatement. I'll feel pretty safe saying that most, if not all, attractions CM's do it.

Great post! Thanks for not flaming me!

Wow chill out! It's not like I robbed someone of their vacation money. And as far as people being mad that others are getting on quickly while they stand and wait, Fast Pass is available to every single person who is in the park. If they choose not to use it, it's their own fault.

I didn't say it wasn't their fault for not using it. But sometimes you can't. And its tough to deny that it doesn't cause many a guess to feel resentment towards other guests.

As for your fastpass ticket hording. You are giving tickets whose purpose is to make up for a guest missing out on an attraction after waiting in line to someone who didn't. That is not fair to every other guest in the park that day.

All I'm doing is making the magic. I believe when I went through Traditions they told me that it was my job to make the stay/visit magical. Now unless I'm wrong, please tell me.

Now correct me if I'm wrong. If you and your family came into the MK one day and as you talk to a CM the CM offers you and your family a few Attraction Re-Entry tickets, just because they were in a good mood that day. Would you look at that CM and say, "That wouldn't be fair to the other guests." I feel safe putting my money on you NOT saying that and taking the tickets. So it seems that it's only unfair because you have not been on the recieveing end.

So what it comes down to is this: When CM's don't take the extra step for a guest on their vacation, we get burned. When I or other CM's do take the extra step and make magic, we get burned.

Damn, that's no fair!

I can see your point. I guess my feelings on this depend on how many you are giving out. If you give your family members/coworkers enough so they can ride pretty much all the E-tickets without wait...that seems more like favoritism and less like "making the magic". If its one or two...meh.

On an interesting note, has anyone else noticed that sometimes attractions are more fun with a wait? Something about building the anticipation is fun. Maybe I just have been hit with the wand too many times :hammer:

I'm not all that worked up about it, I just thought it would have been odd if it wasn't "officially" against the rules. ;)

I'm more interested in these glimpses into CM life. Thanks BuzzComplexCM and others. I sure wish I was aware of CM opportunities back in my college days, when I did stupid things between semesters, like paint apartments for minimum wage. :brick:

All you have to do is report the person on ebay because they're illilgal to sell FPs.

There is nothing illegal about it!!! It may be unethical, but illegal...please! You are not going to get drqgged into court or do jail time because you are selling these on Ebay!!!

Actually, it is. On the back of each FastPass and re-entry pass is printed "NONTRANSFERABLE - NOT FOR SALE". Will you go to court for selling them? Probably not, but the fine print is there.
