Do you think of the resort as several individual components (parks, resorts, etc., but mostly parks) or as all one big place?

Don't worry, I understand exactly what is meant by the question.

One World to me. If disjointed, and without a clever or even clear master plan ever since 1984ish.

I love how Disney-philosophical these boards have been recently. :D

Don't worry, I know just what you mean. And yes, I see the WDW resort as one large experience comprising of smaller parts. I would imagine that most people here do the same - how many people list one of their favorite moments as driving through the entry arch onto property, or riding the monorail to different hotels or parks? It seems like quite a few. Considering how much time people spend driving or riding around the property per day, or how important the feeling of the jungle oasis of WDW is compared to the Orlando sprawl outside, it's a bit of a shame that Disney doesn't take the resort experience more seriously when designing transportation infrastructure, or before selling off massive quantities of land.

My original reason for doing this thread is the comment of one forum poster who also thought of the resort all as one place instead of several competing places (this is mostly for the theme parks). This poster said that all the parks should have equal pulls and that loading up any one park with stuff to do will just make that park even more crowded. Then the poster stated an alternate timeline where they might have put every single WDW attraction in there, in the gigantic "2,000-acre Disney's Magic Epcot Hollywood Animal Studios Kingdom! Talk about your sore feet!"

So that's what pretty much sparked this thread, so I could see whether you think of the parks as individual places or as one place.

Okay, maybe I didn't ask the right question. Let's start over: do you think of the various places in the resort as independent, autonomous individuals or as units of a greater whole?

I see it all as one, but with different "Kingdoms"

Magic Kingdom: The Kingdom of Fantasy

Epcot: Kingdom of tomorrow

DHS: Kingdom of the Movies

Animal Kingdom: Well, Kingdom of Animals

Downtown Disney: Kingdom of Shopping

ESPN: Kingdom of Sports

Then you have the seperate Kingdoms also called Resort Hotels, Which all have their purpose and reason of where it is placed. (Contemporary and Poly are prime examples)

Nope, pretty much the same question in this thread as the other....
