How do you pass the time on your way to Disney?

We always fly, so we only have about 3 hours to kill. I usually bring the Unofficial Guide with me, and use the time to re-read tips, touring plans, and finalize our 'plan of attack' lol. If we could visit more often, we'd take it easy and just enjoy the experience, but since we only go every few years and only stay for a few days (this year being an exception for our Disney World wedding), we try to fit in as much as we can.

Usually out of my face on Valium, I HATE flying! :(
I usually try to watch the dodgy movies, or keep grabbing onto the DH leg and asking "What that Noise"?
To be honest though, I make myself do It because I love to travel to the US as much as I can :) I just wish you were closer.

I do all of the driving because I get very car sick, so that's what I'm doing. :) DH reads or talks to me & the kids watch movies/sleep/be annoying/play games.

On the 9.5 hour flight from Dublin to Orlando, I read, play sudoku, watch bad movies, eat not so great airline food and listen to my 5 year old son saying are we nearly there yet!

1 hour drive to the airport - Bounce up and down, giggle, cheer.

14.5 hour flight from Sydney to LA - Drug the kidlets, read, listen to ipod, sudoku, shift around uncomfortably, nap for 5 minutes.

5.5 hour flight from LA to Orlando - Play DS, snack, play card games with kids.

DME to WDW - Fall into coma, wake up drooling, sleepwalk to check-in.

Holy Disney thats a long Journey for the mouse!!

I had issues on a 3 hour flight :lookaroun

We have an 11 hour drive so I while DH is driving I read, nap, play games, and try to keep the kids from screaming and killing each other (although not necessarily in that order!).

I am exactly 2 days and a couple of hours away from setting out on our 18-22 hour car ride down to WDW, which we have made 3 previous times during our Spring Break week up here. The kids spend quite a bit of the trip down sleeping or watching movies or playing on their laptops or iPod touch's. My wife and I take turns driving, usually switching every few hours or whenever one of us needs a break. My wife is one who can nap anywhere (lucky her), but me....not so much. I am afraid to miss something. So even when I am not driving, I usually just sit there and take in all the scenery. It probably stems from not traveling much as a kid. Although we could probably fly down there in 3 hours or less, I actually LOVE the whole road trip aspect of the trip and am looking forward to making that LONG drive here in 2 days and change!!!! :sohappy:

I say once your at the airport vacation has started. So this isn't passing time per say, it is more of a nice start to a fun week.

DD sleeps almost the entire way! Lucky girl. DH has finally started letting me drive some so we take turns. I always take our Disney guidebook, a Seek A Word puzzle book and something to read! We'll stop for a quick breakfast and talk constantly about how excited we are! The drive down takes about 10 hours!

Sleeping. I fly from California to Orlando on a red-eye every year. One less night to pay for and 5 hours of sleep!

I wish. We come every year from No. CA and we leave Sacramento around 6:00 - 8:00 a.m. and arrive at WDW around 6:00 p.m. I just can't bring myself to fly all night as I'm not a sleeper on planes. I usually get the window seat and watch the landscape. DW reads, watches the movie or cat naps:snore:.

We are another family that flys to Orlando, I attempt to read while fielding about a thousand questions from my son on every subject under the sun. You name it he's got a question.

Just flew from Newark to Orlando at 6:30 AM on February 25th. I spent the two and a half hour flight with a vodka and orange juice, listening to WDW music on my Ipod and people watching. Never too early for a cocktail when you're on vacation. Although at that point it felt like lunch time, considering my alarm went off at 2 AM that morning. Ha ha!

Wow. After a such a long flight it must be hard not to just stay in L.A. and hit Disneyland that's 30 minutes away. You're also pretty close to the Asian parks. Those are all more "day trips" so I get it. Man that's a tough trip...

WOW...you all really love WDW!!! I sure hope you able to stay for more than just a week for all that travel time!!!!

What can I say....It's an obsession!

We usually have 7 or 8 years between trips so to make all the travel worthwhile we stay for 2 weeks in WDW then visit family in Boston.

I haven't really been tempted by Tokyo or Hong Kong yet, WDW was my first entry into the Disney realm and it has my heart.:p

I agree disney is a magical place how do you manage to wait every 8 yrs man i was there in december and I am depressed :-(

I'd go yearly if it were possible. However our next trip in June is 13 days in WDW, 4 days in Boston and 4 days in Las Vegas for a wedding - and for the four of us is costing a smidge under $20,000.

Sooooo just being able to go every 7 or 8 years is a treat I am really grateful for. You take what you can get, right?
