I just got back from an amazing Walt Disney World vacation, but am feeling pretty bummed out considering leaving the happiest place on earth and entering reality. How do you cope with leaving your Dole Whips and favorite little mouse behind? (im not depressed or anything just sad :))

We liked the fact that when we got back, we took our whole family out to dinner for what it cost for just the two of us at Disney. Made us appreciate reality......

I usually feel that way for the first day or two, but getting back to my routine, of work, kids, football practice, etc, just doesn't let me think too much about it. I go every few months, so I know my next trip isn't too far away. I went for the Veteran's Day Holiday and I know I'll be back sometime in mid February. The wife mentioned just the other day she can't wait til we return. SHe's getting me worked up already.

I'm in a position where I'm able to go every few months, but the best solution is always to have your next trip booked before you leave, regardless of how far in the future that next trip is!

We go a couple of times a year although we don't book before leaving. I just booked for August and it does help knowing when your next Disney trip is going to happen.

I always start planning our next trip on the way back home. We talk about what we enjoyed the most ,and what things we want to include in our next trip. We talk about things that we wish had done. We figure out when and where we will stay. It makes coming home a little easier.

Absolutely - planning the next trip is the best way to deal with the current one ending! Years back when I only went once a year, it was much harder to leave; even knowing my next visit was already planned, a year seemed way too long. Now I have an annual pass and go at least 4-5 times a year (i have a very indulgent husband) so we always have a trip planned. It makes my visits to the parks more relaxed, because I don't feel I have to cram everything into one week, and also makes it easier to go home, since I know I'll be back soon. Next trip is just 3 weeks away! Can't wait!!

Best way to cope is to reminisce on the amazing, magical time, then look forward to the next one!

Don't fret, there's a great, big, beautiful tomorrow -- just a dream away!!

Leaving Disney to me is coming home to short cold wet clowdy winter days. For me looking forward to spring is my way of coping with leaving Disney.

Usually in the fetal postion sobbing...then I plan the next trip.

Just had to cancel the trip in January due to a running injury. I was supposed to run the Goofy, but now have to wait until next year.

I come on these boards and listen to plenty of Mouse World Radio to bide my time until the bank accounts say it is time to go back again...

My wife usually copes with leaving WDW by crying on the Magical Express buss on the way back to MCO airport. We recently became DVC members and will now have at least one trip per year with the family, or possibly two trips per year if we decide to go solo as a couple only. That should allow us to have another trip planned or at least on the horizon when we leave.

The easiest coping mechanism is to realize it isn't going anywhere and will always be there for you to enjoy. Trust me, I left there after LIVING there for 4 years.
