How do you book your trip?

So I talked to a local travel agent who specializes in Disney vacations and she of course gave me the exact same price as online plus her charges so we had decided to book online ourselves. The site seems easy enough but every time I go to book our hotel and park tickets it seem like it tells me to come back later! Is this a common problem? How do you book your trips?

booking is a big process but i've learned to really enjoy it. the first time i was completely clueless, the last 2 times i've been on point. and yes, sometimes after all of your prep work the site doesn't work. i don't get that, i never have, here's this massive company and seemingly 30-40% of the time their site can't process a reservation or a booking. you get that picture of goofy or somebody and it says "oops!"

i would not pay somebody to book my trip for me that's for sure. use the site, use the forums for specific questions, or use some other real good ones (i would google them i'm not sure i can post links on this forum to other disney sites). make a thing out of it. you'll be an expert in no time.

I'm having trouble making ADRs this morning. The site just may be down... I would keep trying or call, if you really want to do it yourself. Otherwise, try another TA - most don't have fees.

I usually just call, yes it may take a bit longer then online. However when i hang up I feel that I'm getting exactly what I wanted. Most of the people you speak with when you call are very friendly and its a fun part of the planning process. There is no reason to use a travel agent. With a little research you can do it yourself and have a great time doing it.

If you don't have issues using a computer, then booking your own trip is pretty freaking easy. Only time i ever have to call, is to request a specific room number, but you can really only do that a week out from your trip anyways, and you have to call the resort directly.

I have booked both of my trips on my own via the Disney website. I found it to be very straight forward and easy. I did call to make some changes to my April trip after I had booked it because I couldn't figure out how to make those changes online. I found the cast member helpful and she made the changes I needed. Otherwise, I have always booked my own and have not had an issue.

Yes, the site gets wonky and jammed up at times, but I pretty much always book that way. For some reason, it's just so satisfying to do so. :inlove: Maybe it's the convenience of typing in my name so I know it's 100% correct, or that I love looking at all the pretty pictures...who knows! Either way, booking your own trip is easy - it's the planning your trip and figuring out dates/budgeting that is hard. If you already have that down, try the site later or just give Disney a call. I do agree getting a magical CM to help you with your trip is just as fun!

Travel agents provide a service, as your time = money. At what point does fighting with the Disney website or waiting on the phone to make changes or ADR's become not worth your time? That is the question for you to answer.

Are her charges just for booking Disney? or are they charging you to book your airfare? Travel agents don't earn commission on airfare, so they need to charge you something.

I have never used a travel agent, and we had to call Disney directly to book our upcoming trip because we had the same problem you did. The website only works when it feels like it.

I prefer to book online (hate talking on the phone) but DFiancee prefers to do everything over the phone. We've made a few changes to our package already and haven't had any problems, and everything updates right away on the website. We are booking our flights this week, which means we'll have to set up DME. Everyone DF talks to on the phone is very polite and helpful.

As for booking ADRs and FP, the app always works perfectly for me. It's just the website that has it's issues sometimes.

I have been going through KK since 2008 and I have never had to talk over the phone. We email back and forth and that is better for me anyway with working all day. But I never had to call for anything. It is so easy and stress-free!

I've booked online through Expedia for our last trip because it saved me almost $200 over the Disney website. However, it was a HUGE headache trying to get my Disney confirmation # from Expedia in order to link it to MDE. It took four phone calls to Expedia support to get the number. I've vowed to only use MyMagic+ to book future vacations. The fine folks at WD have made it very easy to take my money :)

We always book through Disney by phone. We like the person to person interaction.
I've heard nothing but good things about KK but if I ever have an issue I dont want to have to go through a 3rd party to get it resolved. My feeling is you book a trip to Disney through Disney and if there is issues, who is going to fix it? Disney.

I have booked both online and on the phone with Disney. I always do this myself. I don't want the hassle of dealing with a 3rd party(travel agent). Since I love planning, I am always the one that books all of our trips. Hubby just goes where I tell him. :D

As a few others have said, Kingdom Konsultant Travel does not charge our clients any fees at all to book your trip with us. When you select one of our agents, that is the person you will deal with consistently unless you request a change of agents (You would need to speak to Pam who owns the agency to do that) You wouldn't have to waste time fighting with websites or calling to get things done. A simple e mail to your favorite Konsultant and it is taken care of. Your trips are monitored for any discount opportunities and those are applied as per availability. If your resort/room type is not available we will let you know some other options. Marie
