How do they verify resort guests for EMH?

We used to always get checked at each attraction. Haven't been since 2011 so no clue how strict they are of recent but they used to require every person show a key card not just a key card for the group. And, we used to have them READ the valid dates of said card to make sure it was a current key. No just flashing a key and breezing by. ;)

We usually avoid the parks that have the evening EMH, but make an exception for MK toward the end of our trip, something about spending the last night/early morning extending the trip all we can. We got checked some of the times, and usually they only checked one member of the family. No one seemed to be looking to see the dates on the card, and one or two checkers seemed to only look for something in the shape on a rectangle.

We went in September of last year (2012). They check your cards when trying to get on a ride, but just to be around the park in general they don't check. Usually they have a big "picket sign" style giant KTTW card to let you know to have it out so they can see it.

When I was a CM in 2008 they did the wristbands (you showed your card at certain locations and they'd give you a wristband to wear), but it was always horrible because they didn't always distribute them at the same place and were really bad about not making it obvious where they were distributing them. I felt stupid as a CM when people would ask me and I couldn't tell them where to go to get them.

When I was there last month, I got asked to show my key for every ride. (Mine was a Dolphin key) Don't think they looked very closely at the dates though. I just had to briefly flash it. I'm guessing that probably varies from CM to CM though.

It has been about 50:50 in our experience. And it seems like the later in the EMH, the less we have been asked to produce our cards. Maybe the CMs figure that by then someone else has checked. Maybe they're just too tired to give a hoot and are looking forward to "clocking out" and hitting The Adventurers' Club. Oh wait . . .

It's been my experience that they don't check based upon hundreds of different attraction entries in all of the parks.

Well at every one of those entries is at least one CM, so it's not hard to check. I know they have when we were there last, but that's the most reliable info I can give. Did they look closely? Except for one CM, not really - we just flashed the card and they waved us through.

Well, if the people are in the park already, then they must have a valid ticket. It seems like too much effort to bring in old KTTW cards just for 3 extra hours.

And I've never really paid attention but it didn't seem like most of the CM's that checked my cards were looking at the date, just looking to make sure they were KTTW cards.

So at the last EMH I went to (Superbowl night EMH. How sad considering I'm a Ravens fan but decided to go to MK instead of watching the big game. Anyway...) we got checked at every attraction. Thoroughly at the beginning. Towards the end of the evening we were flashing them at the cast members and they were waiving us by. After the third time on Buzz the cast members knew who we were and stopped demanding to see them. The one time I did morning EMH at Blizzard Beach (Never. Again. Too. Early.) we were carded at the gate. That was back in 2008. Like I said, I'm not a morning person. Obviously, since I got up at noon today.

Your experience seems reasonable. By the end of the evening, it's reasonable for the CMs to assume that by that point you've been carded enough to determine that you are legit. Plus, the ones that know you by sight, no reason to waste each others time checking IDs.

That's the pattern that I usually find. Once they know you, why check? I've done many an Extra Magic Hours evening and have never not been carded on wrist banded before they had the cards.

What I hate is the picky cast members. I had my brother with me, and we forgot his card, and the cast member wanted to see his card. I told her he was my brother, he obviously wasn't alone in the park, and we were resort guests. She looked suspicious but let us go by. Am hoping the new 14+ rule works in my favor next trip so I don't have to pull both our cards all of the time.
