How do I trust my 13 yr. old with his card?

Hi Everybody,
I'm going to let my 13 yr. old take off with his 20 yr. old brother occasionally and I started to worry a little. He's very forgetful. He loses things all the time. How am I supposed to trust him with his Disney pass? I will probably put the oldest in charge, but I was wondering if the pass could be attached to a key ring or something. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Kris:xmas:

Buy him a lanyard with a clear plastic sleeve for tickets attatched. I lose things too, and I was rather terrified about losing my Disney company ID, but keeping it tucked away in a lanyard until I needed it kept it safe

Totally do the lanyard!

I lose everything (lost my phone on the plane) so I can relate and I'm way older than him!! I just hope it's not too uncool for him! It's pretty much impossible to lose when it's around your neck.:p

We have a lot of luck with the lanyard, 3 sons you know :) They are ok with it, as it is how they had to travel though Spain. Remember if you are staying on property and the pass is part of your room, it is not a huge deal to have it replaced at GS, just take your other passes to the desk and they can sort it all out. The brothers love to travel the parks together!

tell him if he loses it, he'll have to pay for a new one. It's not true, but he won't know that & that'll make him more careful.'

edit: for the record, sorry for all the typos lately, I've been checking the forum out more and more on my Motorola Q cell phone, and for all the wonderful things the phone can do, that keyboard is still too small for my giant ham hands

I agree here. Just tell him that if he loses one, that you understand, but anymore than losing 1 he'll need to pay $5 or something for it. Also, help him but designating a certain place where his pass should always go, either in a lanyard, or his left front pocket.

Heck, on our last trip, I lost my entire family's APs, room keys, and Disney Dining Experience Card and I am 38 :D

I reported it to the area supervisor and he said to check at guest services in about an hour. Sure enough, they had it. A CM had seen it (clear plastic holder tore off of the lanyard when I was carrying our son) laying on the ground and took it directly to guest services.

I'd definitely go with a lanyard... every cast member uses one for their ID it seems and I never had trouble with mine and I now keep my school ID in the lanyard it never fails!

Does his 20 year old brother not want to hold onto it?

I'm 20 and i take my 13 year old brother and 9 year old sister at least once every trip because we go around my parents' anniversary. Whenever we go somewhere, i take everything and just hold onto it. It's not like we're going to be seperated, so they don't need to worry about their tickets, money, etc.

Have fun!!

whats cooler than a VIP/backstage pass style lanyard I would carry one too if I had a AP  ...well.. but with that much distance between me and Orlando .. it wouldn't make much sense :o

Thanks everyone,
The last time we went was in 2000, and I handled all the cards myself. I kept reading about lanyards, not really knowing what they were. I feel a little stupid right now. Thanks for the suggestions, I really appreciate it. Kris
