How crowded IS Thanksgiving week??

So my family and I have never been to WDW for the Christmas decorations and after our recent trip at the beginning of March we are dead set on getting back for them.

However, the only time we can go is Thanksgiving week. My family and I are mentally prepared for the crowds and honestly I don't care and I am so excited for the decorations, MVMCP, etc. I am just trying to get a sense from others past visits of how insane it is. Are we talking 4th of July and New Years/Christmas week crazy or Spring Break crazy? TP has the crowd levels between 7-9 that week but after my recent visit in March I am not putting much stock in them. TP was WAY off IMO.

Thanks in advance!!!:xmas:

We did Thanksgiving a couple of times, some years back (8-12 years maybe??) Thanksgiving dinner was at the Swan and was outstanding, (characters were there too!!) however, Magic Kingdom was at maximum capacity, that day, the day after and Saturday. We stayed pool side at the Contemporary that day and went to Hollywood Studios at night. Crowds weren't bad at all. MVMCP the following year, same thing, crowd level was at maximum, but was wonderful. Something about the holidays, you don't seem to mind the crowds as much :ROFLOL:. It can be overwhelming? Ride times are unreal, but to us, you couldn't beat the experience. If you don't mind waiting, or prefer to do another park other than Magic Kingdom, by all means, go, have a great time, a fabulous dinner and check this off your bucket list. Despite the crowds and possible long waits, it's a Disney memory, without doubt

We did Thanksgiving Week 2011 from the Sat before to the Sat after and we didn't find it too bad. We went to AK on Thanksgiving Day. We did the other Disney parks earlier in the week and it would say a 20 min wait and we would be on in 5 or 10. We went to Universal the Mon before and it was terrible. We did KSC the day before Thanksgiving and we did Sea World the day after Thanksgiving but went to EPCOT that night for the CP. There was no MVMCP that week. The first night we arrived we saw the Osbourne Lights and a few nights we went resort hopping to see the decorations. We had such an amazing trip!

I agree with the earlier posts. If you can get in park time from Sunday to Wednesday that week then you will find crowds manageable, weather excellent, and holiday decorations beautiful. We have found that Thanksgiving Day is a good time to go to the pool, relax at our resort, gift shop/restaurant hop to other resorts, etc. From Thanksgiving Day through the weekend the crowds have gotten increasingly bigger the last several years. However, we do enjoy our time there. After all, a crowded day at Disney is STILL a day at Disney!!! Have a great time, wish we were going this year!

We were fortunate enough to go both in May 2009, and Nov. 2009. I would say although it is pretty crowded, it is still very mangeable. The Christmas decorations and spirit of both Thangsgiving and Christmas made it worth it for us. I have actually been there Memorial day weekend and felt it much more crowded than even Thanksgiving day itself. Hope this helps. I have heard Christmas week, spring break weeks, and Fourth of July is more crwded.
