How come they never thought up of a Tron ride?

I didn't think anyone cared about Tron. Maybe the original since the effects were impressive for the time, but the story in both movies are basically the same and not very good. Plus, Test Track is kind of like Tron, or at least it has enough inspiration from it. Though, the Tron themed monorail was pretty cool.

Tron was not a big enough hit to warrant the expense of Walt Disney World attractions in the USA, it seems. There are no "Apple Dumpling Gang" attractions either, and that's okay. :)

Saying it was a failure compared to Disney's unrealistic expectations - one might just as easily say that it would be unrealistic to expect Disney to build an attraction celebrating this movie franchise that has never really won over the public. The marketing push - the Tron-a-rail - was all money spent to raise awareness of the movie to try and get people to buy tickets and give the movie a chance. . . and it still didn't work.

No, not really at all. Has its own little fan base, but it's pretty much a flop here too. lol
Haha, to be honest, i was going to say "Wasn't Tron a bit of a flop", but decided to play it safe with the nationality thing to not offend any die hards.

Thought so.

im a huge tron fan, but moreover i couldnt even begin to imagine what disney imagineering could create with the visuals provided from the last film. i would really like to see something come of that.

I'm not a big Tron fan but I admit to watching both movies and I completely agree that an attraction based on it would've been one cool ride!

No. There were a few Tron Nerds who loved the first one and were excited about the new one. I'm not making fun of them. I know one. He's a good guy and self-identifies as a "Tron Nerd", lol. It's a fairly limited group of people. He didn't like the new one. Looked good, lacked substance...that was his basic opinion.

Americans, as a group, were not eager to see a new Tron movie. Aside from a small group of Tron Nerds, nobody ever thought about it. We weren't waiting all these years for a re-make. I don't think it did very well.
It did not do as well as Disney wanted, but it did make $400 million worldwide with a $170 million budget. So very far from a failure.
