How come they never thought up of a Tron ride?

Jim hill has rambled about several Tron themed attractions that never came to be. Test track was supposedly to have had a Tron redo but since the movie wasn't a hit they watered it down to the current refurb.

Was also a light cycle ride concept for tomorrow land but this was scrapped. They may use that ride tech idea for a speeder bike ride through Endor in Star Wars land.

Regardless of box office, I think it's a great idea especially for tomorrowland. Easily two of my favorite disney films.

Would love to see some sort of permanent Tron themed attraction at some point....but i think 'Tron Track' is the closest we will get at WDW.

Not a huge fan of TRON, but at least it's a DISNEY creation and therefore has much better reason to exist in a Disney park than Wookiees or Cameron's kitties.

TRON was awesome....really a shame the heads at WDS don't feel it is a worthy franchise to explore further or produce more synergy-related Park offerings.

'ElecTRONica' out at DCA was a huge hit by any way you measure it. A hit with the Tron fans, a hit with the rave crowd, a hit with the locals, and most importantly to the Suits: a money maker.
Why this was never expanded on in the Park(s) on a more permanent basis is puzzling.
Even if someone has not a clue about the Tron universe, the striking and futuristic visuals would lend themselves well to a themed attraction or other experience.

At the very least, turn DL's Starcade into a "Flynn's". The same could be done in WDW's Tomorrowland Arcade.
That just seems like a no-brainer to me.

I was very excited about the Lightcycle/speederbike ride concept being kicked around a few years ago.
A damn shame that word now seems to be it is being reserved for the Star Wars project.

Argh....

Tron ride?

Neither of the Tron movies made as much money as Disney wanted them, and ratings for Tron:Uprising were poor.
Disney sees the franchise as a money pit and doesn't want to throw good money after bad.

Tron Legacy underperformed at the box office. Disney isn't going to make a Tron ride as long as the films continue to not be huge hits. So instead we get Test Track 2.0, a Tron ride that isn't called a Tron ride.

I'm still highly doubtful whether Test Track 2 was ever specifically supposed to tie-in to "Tron."
My theory is that someone who saw the concept renderings may have used "Tron" as a frame of reference when describing the aesthetics of the new version, and hearing this people jumped to improper conclusions.
GM/Chevvy's internal people were apparently highly involved in the conceptualization of the new version, and I can't imagine their wanting to dilute their company's message with an under-performing Disney IP overlay.

Is Tron popular in America? Considered a bit of a flop over here.
No. There were a few Tron Nerds who loved the first one and were excited about the new one. I'm not making fun of them. I know one. He's a good guy and self-identifies as a "Tron Nerd", lol. It's a fairly limited group of people. He didn't like the new one. Looked good, lacked substance...that was his basic opinion.

Americans, as a group, were not eager to see a new Tron movie. Aside from a small group of Tron Nerds, nobody ever thought about it. We weren't waiting all these years for a re-make. I don't think it did very well.

For a time, the PeopleMover at Disneyland traveled through the World of TRON when it entered the Carousel Theater (now Innoventions).

TRON: Legacy really didn't do that badly. It more failed compared to Disney's unrealistic expectations.

Tron was not a big enough hit to warrant the expense of Walt Disney World attractions in the USA, it seems. There are no "Apple Dumpling Gang" attractions either, and that's okay. :)

Saying it was a failure compared to Disney's unrealistic expectations - one might just as easily say that it would be unrealistic to expect Disney to build an attraction celebrating this movie franchise that has never really won over the public. The marketing push - the Tron-a-rail - was all money spent to raise awareness of the movie to try and get people to buy tickets and give the movie a chance. . . and it still didn't work.
