How come no recognition?

I'm very surprised that there has been no recognition for Carousel of Progress and It's A Small World for their 50th anniversary since debuting at the 1964 World's Fair. These two attractions are as classic as it gets for WDW with Walt himself having worked on both. A golden anniversary is a big deal for these two icons and probably even more so for the folks who saw both attractions 50 years ago in NY.

Perhaps even sadder than CoP and IASW not getting any 50th attention, is that if they did get some sort of recognition, would anyone (general public) care? Obviously the people on this and other Disney fan sites would care, but the rest of the world wouldn't even notice. Now, if they celebrated the one month anniversary of a Frozen M&G, then folks would flock in droves over this special, once in a life time event.

Sadly, I think you hit the nail on the head. If they were told, most people today probably wouldn't even know what a World's Fair is/was.

They did that whole IASW sing along on GMA, if you count that.

They also released some merch, but it was hardly a celebration.

In unrelated news, I know the upcoming film Tomorrowland is featuring the 1964-1965 World's Fair in the film. There was even some filming going in at IASW (DL) and at COP a few months ago.

Maybe this film will nod those classic attractions in a tasteful way.

You can't get them in the parks. They were ONLY available for one week each:

From April 15-20, the Disney Parks online store will release two T-shirts – a purple shirt celebrating Fantasyland at Disneyland park, and a green shirt featuring the Sunshine Tree Terrace at Magic Kingdom Park.
Then, from April 22-27, we salute the 50th anniversary of two classic Disney attractions – “it’s a small world” andWalt Disney’s Carousel of Progress
To find these T-shirts, I invite you to visit http://www.DisneyStore.com/ParkEvents during the dates referenced above.

How did I miss those? They aren't online any more and I didn't see them in the parks in May.
They were never in the parks. You could only get them for the one week they were online.

What are you all going on about? There was a BIG global celebration for It's a Small World by having a global sing along, releasing limited edition merchandise, line of dolls, launched a new Small World TV show, launched a dedicated 50th Anniversary website, Disney Parks Blog did a whole week long history of the attractions and released celebratory wallpapers for PC and iPhones for both Small World and CoP. There was lots of stuff going on.Where were you? lol

I know, they did all that and people here didn't seem to know. Did everybody fall off the planet or something?

God bless the "Ignore" button.
CoP had never gone more than eight years without a major refurb until 1993. Since then, it's all just been the bare minimum of maintenance.

There were a few other things that weren't recognized, such as Lincoln, the Grand Canyon diorama and the Primeval World diorama from Disneyland's Railroad. They were all from the World Fair.

"it's a small world" was definitely recognized.
