How can you tell if a week you are planning to go is going to be busy?

Hello everyone. I tried to search for this but to no avail.

I don't mean busy as in prime time vacation weeks, but busy as in pop warner football week, or science groups days at epcot. How to find out if there are groups that are staying during a week. Does that makes sense?

Although anytime is a great time to visit WDW, the wife and I used to go 2 times a year since 2001, up till we had our first baby last Dec. We actually found out she was pregant the night before our plane left on our last vacation. We checked just in case so no excess partying went on while we were off.

But anyway, I want to plan a trip next winter/spring and just don't want to get stuck with the Martial Arts competitors stayin on site at Coronado again.

Thank you!

(wow, my sig is old)

Usually on Allears.net they post event calendars of different things that are happening at the parks or resorts such as Cheerleading Competitions and whatnot. Also if you call your hotel directly you can ask them if anything events are planned for that week.

I saw that you mentioned Coronado in particular. Keep in mind that they get heavier traffic since it's a convension center resort...just like Boardwalk, Swan and Dolphin, and Contemporary. I'm sure each of the convention centers have direct lines you can call to find out about scheduled events. Just call the WDW Switchboard and have them connect you. I think Yoda knows the phone number...

EDIT: after doing some snooping. I found the conventionEARS website but it doesn't look like they post a calander of events on it. I think you're best bet is to call the resort you're thinking about staying at to find out about any conventions.

Now if it's a sporting event, you'll have to look at the calendar for the Wide World of Sports. Here's a link to that website. It has a calendar of events on it. You won't be able to tell where the cheerleaders or sports teams are staying (usually at All Star Sports) but you can expect high number of kids/annoying cheers in the queue lines based on this list.

If you have The Unofficial Guide you can log onto Touringplans.com and view the crowd-level calender. It is extremely accurate. Len and his team do a lot of work to collect the data they use.

If you don't have The Guide you will have to subscribe to the site or you will only be able to see information for a month.
