Ok, this sounds stupid comming from me ( I tend to think I know a lot ) .... but, how big is Walt Disney World? The reason I ask this, is because I alway thought it was 43 square miles, at least I think that's what Walt said. As far as park acres I alway thought MK. 107 acres, EPCOT. upper 200's around 270 acres, DHS. 134 acres, an AK. 500 acres  . Anyway, as l looked around a lil online, I found a few different sites with different info, this is one http://www.angelfire.com/fl2/beccy/factsfigures.html, and some talk abot it here http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/sho...ive-Sizes-of-Disneyland-Magic-Kingdom-and-DCA . I checked Wikipedia, but I can't call it, does anyone know how many miles, and how many acres each park takes up

Your best bet to get the types of details you're looking for is the Reedy Creek Improvement District Website. They have all the development plans for the entire property that is Walt Disney World as well as the future potential plans going out a decade into the future.

http://www.rcid.org/2008Comp_main.cfm

The Future Land Use document includes a breakdown of the amount of the total acreage used for the various functions such as theme parks, resorts and other entertainment and support facilities.

I know the 47 square miles comes from the original amount of land Disney purchased, but much of that has been annexed off. Anyone know the current figure?

Disney is constantly buying and selling property. So therefore a correct answer this week will be incorrect next week.

Disney's 2011 Annual Financial Report stated WDW covered "approximately 25,000 acres of owned land".

Many other sites put the original purchase at around 27,000 acres, with a purchase of about 3,000 acres soon after, bringing to 30,000. So it doesn't surprise me that the current annual report shows 25,000 acres.

But as was said above, the number keeps changing as land is sold and bought.

A certain percentage is dedicated to conservation.

I don't think anyone was unhappy. The OP was just asking about the physical size of WDW.

Anyone else notice that in the RCID Plan mentioned, in the Future Land Use section, on page 2A-11 for future development under 2015 and 2020 is suggests that 1 Major Theme Park and 2 Minor Theme Parks are expected to be developed?

Major Theme Parks
Mixed Use Entertainment
4 Parks
0 Park
1 Parks
1 Parks

Minor Theme Parks
Mixed Use Entertainment
3 Parks
1 Parks
1 Park
2 Parks

Does this mean existing Theme Parks, or new ones?

A friend of mine who has never visited WDW recently asked me this same question and I told him, "to give you an idea of how big it is, I ran an entire marathon, 26.2 miles, through out all four parks, in which very little of the marathon course overlapped, and I didn't even get close to any of the borders of the property or came close to seeing all of the property/land". He was stunned and I was a little bit too after realizing what I said. Driving around on property it truly is amazing at how much land there is.

It would mean a 5th gate, but it takes years for disney to build another gate. If they were going to have a 5th gate by the end of the decade, it would need to be announced this year. The problem with this is that the amount of developable land will not be enough for a new gate unless they buy more land on the edges, like by Lake Reedy.
