How big is WDW?

Allot of that has to do with the Savanah. The actual park area where guests walk I believe is on par with Epcot

Smaller than that, actually. The savannah is easily 2/3s of Animal Kingdom. Take it out and the remaining guest area is very similar in size to the Magic Kingdom.

Incidentally, I've always been skeptical of that "all the parks can fit in AK" statistic. Looking at it Google Earth, Epcot alone would fill up almost the entire park.

A friend of mine who has never visited WDW recently asked me this same question and I told him, "to give you an idea of how big it is, I ran an entire marathon, 26.2 miles, through out all four parks, in which very little of the marathon course overlapped, and I didn't even get close to any of the borders of the property or came close to seeing all of the property/land". He was stunned and I was a little bit too after realizing what I said. Driving around on property it truly is amazing at how much land there is.

I hear ya, it's huge, that's part of the reason I was asking about the size  Congrats on the 26.2 miles, I don't think I could have done that

I've already seen it mentioned... but CMs are told to say "twice the size of Manhattan" or "approximately the size of San Francisco." They are asked to avoid numbers due to the constant fluxuation.

It also gets more complicated because Disney owns nearby land in Kissimmee and Celebration. Plus, they have warehouses near Florida Mall and out at the airport... so it's never clear if that land is supposed to be included or not.

I have heard that dak is 500 acres, with epcot being 300, dhs about 150 and mk at 100. The safari is easily the size of mk and its backstage area.

Plan at least 3 days. It's bigger than big. You can have a good 1 day at Disneyland CA but you need more time at Disneyworld FL

3 days? I always say 4 days atleast, you can use the other half day to pick up more attraction at one of the other gates or shop at WOD. 5th day is 2nd day at MK.

Walt Disney World was originally 4 square miles. Part of this has been sold off (for example the celebration area).

For facts about each of the parks go to this website http://disneybythenumbers.com

It provides interesting facts about Disney World as a whole as well as about each of the parks. :animwink:
