It was only a story that I posted that I read on a Disney site,wasn't trying to change the world.Not like its the end of the world as Disney knows it.If its wrong,it's wrong.
Oh. okay.
I don't believe anyone insinuated it was the end of the world. Or even close to it.
Thanks for clearing that up.

Just been on a tour of the new fantasy land ( video on I-Pad ) And I couldn't believe how big it is now.Its went from 10 acres to 21 ( double the original size ) So just how big is MK now in comparison to the other parks.I know that AK is still the biggest but just curious ( as ever ) where MK stands in line with its neighbours.Fact..Fantasyland is the biggest expansion in 41 years of Disney.;)
10 to 21? You need to remeasure. Or is that just Fantasyland?

Plus remember ALL of FLE used to be taken up with 20K.

The biggest new "expansion" to the MK was Tomorrowland of 1974-5.

You'll also find 1994s Sunset Blvd was a bigger expansion than FLE. As was Carsland.
FLE not only used the 20 k area but also Mickey's Toontown Fair area here are the park sizes at WDW. this was taken from here

  1. Magic Kingdom - 142 acres;
  2. Disney’s Hollywood Studios - 154 acres;
  3. Epcot - 300 acres;
  4. The BIGGEST Disney theme park in the world is Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park- 500 acres.

Depends if you class the circus are as a separate land or a part of Fantasyland. Obviously TDO think its one shiny new land. That argument will run and run. And using that as a basis surely any gain made by incorporating Toontown capacity is lost when the 7th land itself is now lost?

There again, exit polls showing guests less than stellar verdict of the FLE speaks volumes.

That's a pretty restrictive definition. There is land inside the berm that is not developed and if it were ever developed for guest use, I don't see how you could say it isn't a "real expansion". Mickey's Birthdayland was most certainly an expansion -- it took land that wasn't part of the park and added it to the park.

I guess it depends on what is defined as being "part of the Magic Kingdom". The biggest issue IMHO is whether that is just guest accessable areas or is backstage counted. Either way, there is undeveloped space within the railroad berm that isn't "part of the park" at this point.

Actually, it's coincidental that these expansions go beyond the berm. An expansion on undeveloped areas within the park would count, but it just hasn't exactly occurred.

Mickey's Birthdayland (later Toontown Fair) was an expansion of underdeveloped land within the berm.

Big Thunder Mountain was an expansion of underdeveloped land within the berm.

And, as mentioned, the new Beauty and the Beast area (Enchanted Tales with Belle/Be Our Guest/Gaston's) was an expansion of underdeveloped land within the berm.

So, I'm not sure what you are saying.

I thought Birthdayland was built on what was a section of the Grand Prix Raceway course. I forgot about Thunder, but I still don't believe the new Fantasyland really gains much for Magic Kingdom. It simply replaces what was a ride with walkway, restaurants and two rides that replaced that ride and another ride. You know? It was already a part of Magic Kingdom since you went through there on the submarines.

Birthdayland was part Raceway, part expansion pad.

Technically Caribbean Plaza was built within the berm too.
