How bad is the Wilderness Lodge construction?

We had looked at WL for our trip this year in late November/early December... but with the construction at the pool area scheduled for during that time, decided to pass.
I'm pretty sure that the only pool affected by the current construction is the quiet pool by the DVC section, not the main pool by the courtyard with the kiddie splash pad.

That is what the website says... now... lol. Back in Jan when we made our reservations, we were told not to expect the main pool to be available during our stay. Next time!

When is your vacation? you may still have time to switch if the price is right.... I will be at the WL in August and we are still trying to convince friends to join us. (There still are some rooms, but not at the discount rate that I got for WL) Plus if you follow Humphrys on FB there have been posts that crowd level at the main pool is small. (I hope its the same for my trip!)

We had looked at WL for our trip this year in late November/early December... but with the construction at the pool area scheduled for during that time, decided to pass. With a planned 'rest' day in the middle of our trip we wanted to be able to vegetate around a pool for part of the day lol. We have always stayed at moderate resorts, but thought we might like to try the WL. Most of the deluxe resorts are just too expensive. Can't really justify the cost for no more time than we spend at the room. But WL is the cheapest of the deluxe resorts... and I absolutely LOVE the architecture and theming. The only other deluxe resort that interests me is AKL. What a fabulous lobby/main area! And a fabulous price tag to match :D

I know Cowboy Steve....but to me? It is priceless, and once I finally made it to the WL, I was hooked. Think have been there 7 trips....and location location location to my fav park the MK....love the boat ride back and forth. Our next trip this Fall the pool will not be a factor....need to maximize my park time and no kids to entertain...but understood, I have been there so many times its all in my head, but for a first visit? Think I would wait for the refurb to be complete too.

We were just there this past weekend, and we weren't affected by it at all. We actually got put right where a smaller portion of the construction is happening and were told we would hear construction during the day. We didn't hear a thing and were able to watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks every night! The rest of the construction seemed to be where the DVC building was. They gave us these really cute "sorry for the construction at Wilderness Lodge" pins too :)

The main pool was only refurbished 18 months ago. I wouldn't expect it to go down for any refurb until after the other construction is done. Unless there is some kind of short emergency work.

Any updates on the Wilderness Lodge lately? Can anyone here confirm a whole wing is shut down for refurb? I had read half the club level was too.....;)

End of January we stayed there and it didn't interfere at all in anything we did on our trip. Were there briefly in March and although the look of the place is certainly interrupted there wasn't anything going on that made us change anything we wanted to do.

Sigh....that will make it all the harder to get a resort reservation for us non DVC members....is it the wing closer to the villas? Do you know? I prefer the other wing. :)

This is the wing closest to the villas. I took this photo in late May. This photo is taken from the area where the quiet pool used to be looking back toward the WL from the villas area.

Thanks for the pics....I have been there many times so can put up with a lot and still enjoy it.....and our favorite room is in the other wing so guess advance reservations required to stay....no way can I talk DH into a DVC...o_O. Have seen it many times in different stages of refurb...think the current room décor is 3rd version for us.;)

Anyone know if it is possible to rent bikes during construction?
