We were there for one of the first days. Early in the night, there were backups at Buzz and Splash while the CMs checked the cards with little flashlights...especially for people that weren't prepared. Later in the evening, we just had to flash cards for Pirates...I realized after walking in that one of the cards I showed was the photopass.

How are EMH going with the new process?

This doesn't sound to good. I'll be down there in the first week of December.
I wish they had something better to do this, they should keep the wristband idea or get some kind of new technology where you can swipe your card at any attraction before entering any ride, but that would be alot of work to do.
Whatever to them, I'm still buying a lanyard to hold my resort card incase they need to check em.
I'll also will be doing the mickeys very Christmas party as well, but was wondering if the wristband idea is still intact or i would hate for anybody who didnt get one gets to stay in the park to do the mickeys christmas party as well with no charge.

We were definitely stopped multiple times last week to show our cards to CM's at attractions during EMH. Many of them looked closely at the cards and this would create a back-up line that started at the beginning of the attraction's line (then you'd just breeze through the queue).
Interestingly you'd hear people asking CM's about this and one of the more "suit" types said that the main reason for getting rid of the plastic wrist-bands was that WDW is attempting to be more "green" and the sheer amount of plastic waste was HUGE. I guess it makes sense when you think about it, but I don't know if I buy it.
I kinda believe that it's in their best interest to have as many people stay for EMH as possible while leading resort guests to believe they're getting something special. I just chose to not let it bother me and was grateful to have the extra time in the parks.
I definitely can see why they don't want the extra plastic at AK considering they go so far out of their way to rid the area of plastic straws and cup lids.

hmm....I kinda expected that....
they never checked for wristbands either. One time both my Grandma and I had on long sleeves and jackets (therefore the wristband wasnt visible) and they didnt ask to see it at any ride....
Im just curious...what keeps people from staying in the parks???? :veryconfu

That's just the cast to guest company line.
I am a long time lurker here, but wanted to let everyone know what my experience was last week with the new EMH system. I did have a few CM's check the date on the KTTW card, but a few just saw that I had a card and let me through. I mentioned to one CM (who was actually checking cards) that I thought this was a waste of time for them and he said 'If you don't like it, PLEASE go tell Guest Services. We have had a ton of people complain, but they(referring to Disney Managment) won't listen to us!'

I'm always happy to show my card.
My only issue is not everyone in our party always has a card. All of the adults do but very rarely does anyone under the age of 18 in our group get the right to have a roomkey.

We just got back from going to AK for EMH(Morning) and DHS for EMH(Evening) on Monday 9/15/2008.
Of course, you had to show your resort ID to get into the park at AK for resort guests. Was a breeze to get in and bam...on our way to E:E. If you get in for Morning MH - you have to be a resort guest so no need to check at the attractions.
As for the Night time EMH - the park closed at 8 and you could definitly tell that the park had shut down alot of the shops. We rode ToT, RnRC & TSM during EMH (we had dinner as Sci-Fi that went from 8:15 till 9:15 - so we kinda lost an hour of it, but we wanted it that way).
Each attraction we rode, the CM did actually stop us and ask if we had our room keys. I would start to pull them out of my wallet and they would wave us on through. I never saw any of them actually "look" at the key to verify dates or the like.

I will say this - we rode Toy Story around 6:45p - standby (all fast passes were given out by the time we got to the park at 4ish) and the line took us about 75 minutes. The line basically started just past the white wall once you enter the building.
We then rode again about 10:40p - and the line again started about the same place, just as you see all the games inside. This time around - there was no Fast Pass line to compete against. We were constantly moving and were in and out of there in 25 minutes - from the time we walked in the door till we walked out the door.
I really think (as others have said) that this is one attraction that Fast Pass actually hurts. FP riders were still having to wait 20ish or so minutes. It was a totally different line w/FP and w/o FP - in standby anyway.
The Cast Members had the seating down - so it's not CM's holding anything up. The ride was moving right along with no delays at all. It's just FP that really holds this one up.
