How actually likes the carpet ride more than Dumbo?

I gotta be honest, I know Dumbo is a classic ride and all and the Carpets are techniclly a re-themed Dumbo, but I actually like the Carpets more. The lines are usually shorter, and I like the controls and I just like the theme more. I've ridden the carpets twice but have never felt the urge to ride Dumbo.
Anyone else feel this way?

Absolutely!!
Same basic ride as Dumbo, but with a little more "pizzazz". Triceratop Spin, same deal.
I was willing to ride Dumbo, but we skipped it because of the ridiculous line (at 9:20am) and figured we'd come back. But after we rode Aladdin, my daughter said she didn't care about Dumbo anymore.

Plus, I'm pretty sure that Aladdin and Tri-Spin are both longer duration than Dumbo anyway!

(oooooh, we're gonna get flamed for this!)

While I haven't ridden(?) either, I've always wanted to ride Dumbo to atleast say I've ridden it. I've been to Disney atleast 30 times and I've never been on Dumbo. As the previous poster mentioned the line is always so crazy I never wanted to wait that long. Some day I will! I'll have to try Aladdin too. :D

I and my 4 year old son both prerfer the carpets. For me, it's because of the shorter lines (higher ride capacity) and the controls. And I like the safety message. First Aladdin in English, and then Aladdin says "...or as my friend Genie likes to say" and we get the shpiel in Spanish.

For my son, I think it's because mom and dad can fit in the carpet with him (front/back), and because he can usually ride it multiple times in a row due to the negligible line. In fact, the only way to get him off the carpets is to tell him we can go on Buzz Lightyear ("shoot Zurg!") or Thunder Mountain ("Fast Train!").

I've never really had the desire to ride Dumbo, the Magic Carpets or TriceraTop. But the Astro Orbiter...that's something I ride every trip!

Though I'm not crazy about the way the Carpets ate up much-needed open space in the MK, I do indeed enjoy riding them much more than I do Dumbo (which I now haven't done in years). Dumbo is just a hot, tedious, sweaty mess, and that's before you even get on the ride. It's a classic, but its position in the middle of the Fantasyland crowds doesn't appeal to me. The Carpets are much more fun and relaxing.

Confession: I've never ridden Astro Orbiters. :lookaroun

I haven't ridden Dumbo since I was a kid but is Dumbo actually a shorter duration than the carpets? I really like the carpets but it seems to be over in like 30 seconds.

D~

I'm surprised at how many people actually like the carpets better! To me, I think they are pretty much the same but the carpets do have far shorter lines. Astro Orbiter is better than both though, even with its lines.

astro orbiter is pretty freaky lol... don't ride if you're scared of heights or swirling planets(if you're lucky enough to have them turned on lol)

i personally like them the best, but the line is always so long i can never get on

Ive only been on Dumbo a couple of times and that was back in the day. But Ive never been on the carpets, but I can see why people would choose it over Dumbo. But I think Astro Orbiter is the best for the older kids. Its more thrilling because its higher up. If it were on the ground like the one at DL it would suck and be stupid and be dumbo with a space theme.

I havent been on AO in a long time, mainly because the line is usually to long and literally never moves, so I usually skip it.

If we're just comparing Aladdin's Magic Carpets to Dumbo, then I will definitely go with Aladdin. I love the theming, the much shorter lines, the reuse of the spitting camels from the Aladdin's Royal Caravan Parade, and I don't think they're a waste of prime space. What else are you really going to put right there? And the pathways are plenty wide, so I don't see that as a good argument against them, either.
I'm not saying I dislike Dumbo, though I will admit that it is the ONLY attraction in the four Disney World Parks that I have not been on (unless you also count the Spaceship Earth refurb). I have, however, been on it many times at Disneyland and eventually someday I will force myself to waste 30-50 minutes of precious WDW touring time to go on it at the Magic Kingdom. Are the lines shorter at the after-hours parties like MNSSHP?
