Hotel Slim Pickins

I think this is really happening- I think they are not all the way back up to normal staffing levels, and that is affecting how many rooms are available at each resort. I looked too- and I had two choices- both over $700 per night. Insanity for a while....hopefully it resolves itself soon.

I hope so too and it appears the parks are just as busy as ever.

Just returned and the parks are VERY busy and we were there during the week. Everyone we talked to were saying it was way more busy than in previous years at the same time.

I hope this year was just a fluke and it won't always be this crowded during the "slow" time. I guess everyone has been dying to get out and I can't say I blame them.

I saw this post and thought a new hotel was being built after this guy

The Disney website is flacky. It will sometimes default to only checking the current deal and not show rack rate rooms
I've had this happen a few times and it is incredibly frustrating. It'd be different if there actually WERE any discounted rooms for our trip, then I would probably be appreciative! LOL!

I've been playing around with various dates and it seems like most of the hotels are booked up. When I plug in my dates, I get a few choices, but not many. Specifically, I was looking at the Swan (or Dolphin) and no matter what week I put in nothing was available and lots of other hotel choices were missing as well. I know The Swan is open because I was booked there for our trip a couple of weeks ago that we had to cancel.

I did random weeks in May, September, October, and November - nothing. Normally I'm an early bird and I book a year out, so maybe that's why I'm not used to seeing such slim pickins, but also we can't go passed December. Don't they normally have the calendar a year out? Just wondering what's up with that.
Those hotels all belong to Marriott now. Have you tried booking through their website instead of Disney's?

I went back to my records to look and I was incorrect. It was $270 to add them. And that was just for a standard room, no tickets, just adding them to the same room we were in. When I called the hotel directly, there was no charge to add them, but I was afraid if I didn't do it through Disney, we'd have trouble with them getting into the park early/late, etc. But, we ended up not going anyway, so... :(
I have looked at the S/D/SR and other hotels via the Marriott website, and they also add some pretty hefty fees for extra adults. Not just at the S/D/SR either; some hotels charge for extra people, and some don't.

A random night in June, 2 going from 2 adults to 4 changes SR from $355 (including tax+fees) to $452. that's almost $100 extra just for 1 night.
Tax rate should be 12.5%, but S/D/SR add an extra fee. I get;

Swan: $370 before tax, 1 adult should be $416.25 w/tax but Swan adds a $35 resort fee, so total $455.63.
With 4 adults = $511.88
Even if you add 1 adult +3 kids the base price jumps to $410, and with tax + fees = $501.33

Hotels generally didn't used to charge extra for children under 18. Gotta also love that resort fees are taxed, so they are rally just opaque pricing like the airlines and car rental places (have tried to) add.

We went a few weeks ago in Feb and noticed that there really weren't that many options. We opted for AKL but it was really one of the few options. We planned it in Dec so it was a little last min but we were surprised that early Feb was so booked up.

Yes, it's been crazy crowded during the "slow" time this year. I hope it's not going to be a regular thing now!

Yeah, I've heard that there are no "slow" times anymore at WDW. The parks were pretty crowded in early Feb, especially MK. It was way crazier than I thought it was going to be.
