Hotel room questions

Hi,

I wish you all a magical new year. Now that we have 2005 it is so close for us to go to WDW within 24 days.
I got some questions about the Pop Century. I requested a room with one king bed when doing my reservation. Do you thing that was good for 2 adults?. Are rooms like that in every building? Which building is the closest to the food court?
I would like to call them the day before we arrive and ask for a special room. Which room # would you recommend to be the best?

To help answer your questions....

Yes, there are King bed rooms in all 10 buildings. Nearly all king bed request are honored, but please remember some of these rooms do have roll-in showers as they also double as barrier free rooms for guest with disabilities. It is very rare but still possible that you will get a barrier free king bed room.

If you would like a room near the food court & bus stop you do need to book a Preferred room, which will cost about $12 more per night. These rooms are in the 1960's buildings. If you book a standard room with a request to be near the food court, you will not be able to get your request.

If you do have any other request, such as a special room number, do not wait until the day before you arrive. All request should be made as far in advance as possible (when the room is first booked is best.) If the reservation agent imputs them correctly, the system will time stamps all comments or remarks on the reservation. Since the resort will download all reservations 24 to 48 hours before the arrival date, any request made by the reservation center within 48 hours of arrival often goes un-noticed by the Resort. Calling the resort itself before you arrive also is not recommended as the phone switchboard will always direct your call to the reservation center, not the resort front desk if you are not checked in.

I'm sure you will have a great time at the Pop Century Resort.

I hope this answers all your questions...

Thanks for your answer. I already wrote at the booking *room with king bed near the main building* ...there was no more space for typing :-(.

What is a roll-on shower? Never heard that word before ;-) May you explaine it to me, please.

Its my pleasure to answer your questions.

A roll-in shower is designed for guests who are confined to a wheelchair. It is a standing shower without a tub or a step-up into the shower. Instead there is a mini ramp into and out of the shower stall, allowing the guest to roll right in without the bathroom flooding from the shower water. Most of these rooms also have hand held showerheads.

What you typed is fine, the resort team will do their best to assign you a room with a king bed. From what you wrote I guessing you booked online. You are correct that there is very little room to type in request online. If you booked on Disneyworld.com (your reservation number should be 8 digits starting with the letter R) and you do have additional request for your room, just call 407-W-DISNEY and let the reservation agent know. We have additional space to write internal notes on your reservation. If you booked through any other website, you will need to contact them as you are using a third party travel agency.

Since you are coming in 24 days, I will assume your arrival date is on 1/24/05, which is value season. Also assuming you are not using any discount offers, if your room rate was $77 (about $84.86 with tax) you have booked a standard room. These are in the 1950’s, 1970’s, 1980’s or 1990’s buildings. If your room rate was $89.00 (about $99.24 with tax) you have booked a preferred room. These are in the 1960’s buildings, the ones closest to the food court.

Any other questions, feel free to ask.

We arrive at 01/25 :-)
Is there a different in the room size if you have two beds or the one with one King bed?

What else would be good to request?

Really getting upsate about the trip

All rooms at Pop Century are 260 sq ft, so you have more room to move around in a King bed room. Based on your price I believe you have a standard room. If you want to be the closest to the food court you will need to upgrade your room to a preferred room, however the way the resort is laided out, you are really never very far from the main building. The choice will be up to you. The only other request you may wish to make is for a refrigerator in your room. There will be a $10 nightly fee for its use, paid at the resort. In my opinion, you picked the best of the 4 Value Resorts and will have a great time!

Thanks again :-)

I guess we will have a great stay, yepp we booked a standard room and will leave it like that see what we get :-) We stayed at the AS Movie Mighty Ducks in 99 and from there the way to the foodcourt of the AS Music was closer than to the AS Movie :-).

Hi Renate, I will tell you that when I have stayed at Pop I was in the 70's section the first time ( and was grooving to the funky Disco music I might add!!) and the 50's area the second time. Neither of those two buildings is considered a preferred location and so will not be costing you the additional $10-12 dollars a night and both were really within easy walking distance of the main building area. Have a wonderful time!!! Any other questions, please post and I will do my best to answer them!! Belle
