The mug prices and policies vary from resort to resort. Some resorts charge less and have a minimal refill fee. Because of those differences I don't think they intend to allow one mug for all resorts. www.wdwig.com has a section on the varying mug prices.

I'm sure they will be glad to tell you what the policy is when you buy a mug.

 Thanks, I never would have thought of that

NOPE!! The best thing is to stay where you all raedy have a mug from mmmmmmmmmmm

Although I did check the site you talked about and several people there have used older ones or different ones.

I only use it when we get something to eat, never over use the refill option--- One CM said she would just give me a cup to get a drink, forgot the mug. (a nice , understanding girl!!) Some Disney magic that day!!

I guess with a name like PEPSIstar I should realize your need for soft drinks.

I hope you can work it out. If you have a car just go to Publix and get some there.

On our last trip to All Star Music, I saw many people using a variety of "un-authorized" mugs. Only once did I see a cast member tell someone they were supposed to buy a mug at the register. (I would feel to guilty to try that one myself, but many people do it).:)

This may just be me, but I view the resort mugs as prized souvenirs. I use them all the time at home, and they remind me of good ol' WDW. If you are on a tight budget, but have a souvenir budget for your vacation, you could use some of the souvenir money on the extra mugs.

You know, using another resort's mug is kind of like using another resort's pool. Mug hopping? Hmmm, maybe this is something we should discuss. :animwink: :animwink:

Edited to say: I'm just kidding! Please do not discuss! :D

:sohappy: Hi all, Will be leaving in the morning--- Um it is morning , guess I will be leaving in a little while. If I ever get things done!:lookaroun Seems like there is always something that comes up that you forgot------ ( like the cat food??)

To all of you who replied to my ????? Thanks for the input.

Yellow shoes: Yes I know it is ALL COKE!!! It did not used to be years ago, but coke gave them an ONLY us, !!!! Or we will leave, a few years ago.

Dreamer: Thanks for your input. I have not used another Mug from a different resort, but have seen others do it. Just thought it would save me a few pennies-- whoops dollars if it was OK.

Yes Pepsistar is for Pepsi and Star Is for Star Trek My other two favorite things But WDW is # 1 of course !! :) It is a name I have used for a while. To bad I could not fit Disney in the combination some how. Maybe I will try. ( I always take my Pepsi with me :D , when we stay at Wilderness Lodge or one of the resorts with bell service I can always count on a remark from the staff-- Usually they want one!! haha)

Generation X : Hum ??? never thought of Mug hopping ??? mmmmmmm I know people go to the different pools all the time. That is a thought. You never know what may be next!!

Well, I had better get going, so I can pack the rest of the gooodies, or my Granson will start walking-- He is a LITTLE excited!! Me too but, "I" am not supposed to show it

Sure is fun watching everything through his eyes!!!

Thanks again to "ALL" of you who replied.

Will let you know if I see any MUG HOPPING!!! When I get back! Yah all BE good now, Whoops, been in Florida to long :) talk soon-- I will be thinking of you :lookaroun : wave: :D

Despite what some people might have you believe those mugs are 'Length of Stay', NOT lifetime.

And they are resort specific.

Some people seem to think that once you buy it then it's good for life, this sinmply ISN'T true and the resort welcome letter makes this quite clear...

 Been back for a while from my last trip (October) Some new information to share.

I stayed at the All Star Music this time. I checked with the people in the food court and they said: YES !!!! you can use any of the mugs from the hotels on property. Not a special cup from the parks, but YOU CAN USE the hotel ones. So we got to use our Wilderness lodge mugs which we brought , just in case. It sure saved us on the drinks.

Also, to reply to the last post. They are good untill The policy changes. Which is still in effect. You can use them on every trip until notice. Thought some of you may be interested.

If you are planning on going, I would take my cup I had purchased and check when I got there!! Wouldn't hurt. Like I said I asked at the food court and they did say it was OK. ( asked three different people/same answer.) Other resorts may be different I do not know. Have fun---:sohappy:

I have no argument with someone who asks a CM at the restaurant, "Is it OK to use this mug here?" and is given the go ahead. I do have a problem with the assumption that it is then OK all of the time for everyone, which would cause a guest who is denied permission to become upset. WDW apparently allows their CMs a certain amount of leeway and case by case personal judgement when it comes to rule enforcement, which makes things run smoothly most of the time, but also creates problems when guests hear about exceptions to rules, and expect them to be the norm.

For a non-Disney example, when my father was in intensive care, the rules limiting visiting hours were quite rigid. HOWEVER, after the nursing staff learned of my background, they "allowed" me to stay at any time. I was alone and quiet, and would actually help them as I took over much of his basic care. (except medications, blood work, etc) BUT, they would not allow me to come in from the general waiting area (if I left the bedside) as it would (rightfully) upset other families.

The same probably goes for WDW. If a "bending" of a rule doesn't cause any sort of disruption, a CM would probably say OK. However, it would be unreasonable to expect an exception just because someone else got it...you have no way of knowing all of the circumstances surrounding the "breaking" of a rule.
