Hot Dogs At Walt Disney World!!!!

One day, as a cast member

I worked a hot dog cart near Splash Mountain, at spring break time, on cross-u. That may have been the most physically challenging day of an entire WDW career.

I don't believe the dogs were "branded"; just known as all-beef hot dogs. They seemed larger than what you might buy at a 7-11. The rolls were not steamed but always fresh as I'd open a package and sell a couple of dozen dogs in a few minutes; ready to open another pack well before any time to get stale.

The challenge was keeping the water temp correct. If it would get to boiling too fast the dogs would "explode" and not be sellable; too slow, and guests would be waiting in an ever-growing line.

The regular cast member at that location took money and talked with the guests. I was cook and server; plus cleaned the condiment station from time to time.

Not easy work. Did not leave me wanting to have a hot dog (or anything like ham) for quite some time. However, the guests seemed to enjoy them and so chalk it up as another successful (if back-breaking) cross-u.

Next cross-u, popped popcorn at the hub at parade time. Another busy experience, but a lot more fun.

When I took the Keys to the Kingdom tour 2 years ago our tour guide told us the name, and of course I can't remember! I believe they were a brand that were really popular in Pennsylvania. If I can remember a bit better I'll let you know!

Every time I go to MK i HAVE to go to Casey's and get a fresh hotdog smothered with melted cheese, a large orfer of fries and a coke. its my perfect MK lunch lol:wave:

Hot Dogs at Casey's are steamed and as fast as possible placed on their bun. The time on the Hot dogs ovens can't pass 20 minutes (but cast members know the peak hours so most if not all of the time you get a fresh hot dog.

They are all beef. And just to let you know the hot dogs without the buns that are left at night are sent to food banks and used right away.

I don't think I've ever had a Hot Dog at WDW. Definitely putting it on my list of things to eat for this trip.
:slurp: :slurp: Casey's Corner, Main Street, MK. Mini corn dogs and diet coke :slurp: while watching Wishes from in front of the Castle, nothing better! :)

You know'm and love'm.....Whether there at Caseys Corner at the Magic Kingdom, or out and about throughout the rest of WDW, people truly love Disney Hot Dogs, and for some, its on the top of the "must do" list....

Now....For My Question......

What kind of Hot Dogs are these????

It has to be some company. Like the Mac and Cheese is Stouffer's, where does Walt Disney World's hot dogs come from??? (yes, and i do know where hot dogs come from, im wondering what company these particular ones come from.)

Im just curious.......Thank you for any info,

Radiohost:cool:

RADIOHOST- you only ate them because I always did when I went to the parks with you... but they are amazing whatever they are!!! :sohappy:

I gotta agree that Casey's hot dogs are a *must* on each visit...and a great spot to watch Wishes, too...

Plus, I'll always remember a few years ago that Casey's is the very first place I was ever served french fries in a soft drink cup. I thought it was such a nifty little idea, one of those "Now why didn't I think of that" moments...

I used to love getting the foot long hot dogs from Rosie's Red Hots at the Studios. I think they still have a smaller hot dog at the Toluca Legs Turkey Company there on Sunset Blvd, but it's not the same.

Edit: Ooh, I just looked through the thread and I forgot about the ESPN hot dog! It's been a long time since I've had one of those. Yummy.

Ah, if you like natural casing franks, you have GOT to try Saugys. If they're available outside of New England...
I am definitely getting those for dinner now. :slurp:
