Horrible Dining Expierence

Recently my boyfriend and I dined at the Le Cellar steakhouse the Canadian Pavilion in the Epcot theme park. We ate at the restaurant on Wednesday January 16th at 6:40pm. The dining reservations were for 6:40 under my name. The dinner was the worst and most upsetting experience of our entire 7 day vacation. Not only were the accommodations crammed but the food and service was absolutely HORRIBLE!!! Upon arrival to the restaurant we were seated fairly quickly, and that was the ONLY positive thing that happened the entire evening. Our table was squished between a table of 6 and a table of 4 in a small corner. This table was so small that it barely fit our bread plates and silverware!!! The party of 6 was joking saying how they were dining with us for the evening. There was less then 6 inches from our table to theirs. The waiter, took forever to come over and take our drink order. Finally after he emerged from wherever, he took our order and then stopped and chatted with the table behind us, then disappeared for another 15 minutes. He came back gave us our drinks and then left again before we could ask about the menu. Finally came back with desert for the table next to us and then turned around almost knocking over my wine glass to finally take our order. I ordered the herb rubbed prime rib with the steakhouse Caesar salad and my boyfriend ordered the strip steak. We asked the waiter if the kitchen had regular mashed potatoes. The waiter told us that they only had the cream cheese ones, and my boyfriend joking asked if he was allergic to cream cheese could they make him regular ones and the waiter said rudely then you'd have to order something else. So we just responded that the roasted potatoes were fine. Before he left we made sure that we asked for bread, which he said he'd bring right out and then he disappeared again. The table of 6 that was next to us, the gentlemen was trying to get up and couldn't fit between his table and our, we had to move our table over to let him out. When he turned he had to move to the table again to let him back in. The waiter brought the table next to us their check and we got his attention and asked for the bread again. He said he forgot and would bring it right out and continued finish with the table next to us. After another 15 minutes he returned with my salad, and no bread. We asked again and once again we were told that he forgot and he'd bring it right out. Another 10 - 15 mins pass and he comes out with our meals and finally the bread too. My boyfriend got a decent size steak and 3 little potatoes, i got a piece of prime rib, that was 3/4ths fat and 4 little potatoes. When we turned to ask him about our steak he was gone. So i began to cut into the little bit of steak and my boyfriend began eating as well. about 40 minutes later the waiter returned to ask how we were doing. I told him i was very unhappy with the steak showing him all the fat that was on my plate, he told me that we would pass it on to his manager, cleared the plates and left again. He very quickly emerged with the check and when we asked what was said about the steak the response was you just got a bad cut of meat. We paid left a $2 tip and left. We spent over $100 that night in that restaurant and i can't even fully express how HORRIBLE this meal was. This put such a damper on our day there, and a sore spot on our Disney experience.
We were so udderly disappointed in this meal, we will never eat at this restaurant again and will not encourage anyone that we know to eat there either.

I am a vacation club owner and go down every year, out off all the dinners i have eaten at throughout the years the Le Cellar experience was the WORST meal and service I've ever had a Walt Disney World.

I have already emailed wdw.guest.communications@disneyworld.com and i've gottne no response yet. Actually the above is my email to the above address. That was two weeks ago when we got back. Does anyone know who else I can contact about it? Its still a very large sore spot for us.

Thanks for all your help!!

Sounds like our waiter we had in December. He was pathetic. Ended up the girl waiting the table next to ours got our bread, drinks and desert order. Our waiter was MIA most of our meal.

However, our food was wonderful and since someone covered for our MIA waiter, our experience was OK. This was the first "less than steller" visit to Le Cellier so we will be back.

Whenever you are this upset about an experience at Disney - don't wait until you get home to complain!!!!

You should have asked for the manager right then and there, and not left until you received some sort of satisfaction.

My suggestion is that you should wait no more than 10 minutes for a waiter, and if no one shows up, ask another waiter or the hostess to get the manager.

Speak politely but firmly to the manager, and most will go out of their way to see that you are happy.

I agree. I would have asked for the manager right away and I wouldnt have accepted that table in the first place. sorry about your dinner. does kinda ruin the magical experience I am sure.........Hope the rest of your trip was good......

Complain immediately - ask for the manager immediately. You're paying for a service and standard of food that you clearly didn't get. You should not have settled your bill until the issue had been resolved to your satisfaction

I know and i've never had this horrbile of an expierence in the 10 trips i've been there! I just didn't get a chance to talk to anyone I was there for a soccer tournament and was organizing all that mess for my team and our sister team, and was so upset that i just didn't want to deal with is. Plus my other half has a very short fuse and where i can firmly but nicely prove my point, he can not.

Im just looking for another way to get in touch with Disney. And it looks as though im not the only one who had this problem there.

It was so opposite from the night before. We had such an Awesome waiter the night before at the California Grill, I believe his name was Steven B. He went out of his way to ensure we had a great meal and a wonderful exiperence. I did also send an an email about how great he was. (I read in another thread that when you get a great cast memeber to make sure you tell Disney how great they were).

Yes, my spelling is horrible..

You waited at least 90 minutes during the meal, but were too busy to take 10 to talk to the manager? If you want the situation resolved, you need to talk to someone there, not when you get home.

That's how I chose to handle it.I was just looking for how to contact them. And hoping at the same time, that no one else has the same experience.

Wow i must say that sounds terrible, "You just got a bad cut of meat," thats funny surely they could have CHECKED it before they cooked it and if its horrible then surely they should cook you another steak or atleast thats the way i would see it!

But at this point, how do you expect them to rectify the situation? If you had found a manager at the time, you could have been moved to a different table, got another steak, and have a more attentive waiter. Since you waited, there is not much more they can do other than offer an appology.

Our meal there in December was by far the best we've ever had at Disney. It was incredible, more than incredible. Food was perfect, waitress blew us away, and the atmosphere was wonderful. Even tho we were on the DDP which at the time included the gratuity we left our waitress (Val) an additional $40 tip because she was that good. I think the OP just had a bad experience. I hate when that happens. It creates such a huge void in the magic. We've had that at other restaurants, too.

To the OP: I'm so sorry your meal wasn't up to par. Sounds like the poor service and lack of attention to detail (ie. your table location) was the biggest kicker. Don't give up. If you start to go down this road again in the future you'll know to go ahead and speak up so the management will have the opportunity to make things right for you and the entire experience isn't lost. We had an absentee server at Ohana's for breakfast and it really ruined the meal. We didn't have any food and had to send other servers to find ours. I understand how it turns your view of a restaurant because we'd never dream of going back to Ohana's for breakfast even tho we totally love them for dinner.

I think LeCellier is the single most over-rated restaurant in all of the Disney Parks, but folks around this website seem to love the place.

Sorry you had a bad experience. Nobody deserves that kind of food or service. Especially not while on vacation - and with those prices!

It's a tough call while you're IN the situation, but I suspect there will be plenty of folks posting here to tell you what you SHOULD have done!

Just had lunch at LeCellier Saturday and my steak was probably the best I've ever had. Server was great. Sorry your experience wasn't up to par.

The only thing that detracted from our lunch was the pushy woman who insisted on being seated even though she was told there was nothing open. They did work her in, but I was pleased to see that she didn't get seated until we were almost finished with our meal.

I NEVER order Prime Rib unless it comes from a carving station where I can actually see it go on my plate as it's cut.

Prime Rib is a juicy, tender, cut of meat, but sometimes there are huge pockets of fat and in most places, a chef will just act like they don't see it and toss it on your plate fat and all. It's discusting, but I've actually heard that some people like to eat that fat. Ewwwwwwwwww!:hurl:
