And before everyone freaks out while clicking over to that other thread, it looks as though this new program is in addition to the old AP discounts and is NOT a replacement for them!

Thank GOD!!!! *sigh of relief*

Horrible? AP holders have cheated the system for years (booking many rooms to leave their options open, booking without a AP, booking at rack rate with no intension of keeping the room unless a AP rate comes out, calling 5 times a day, everyday looking for discounts). If you dont believe me check out disboards.com resort section. Its borderline insanity and they completely ruined it for everyone. Well smart companies like Disney figure this out and implement changes to prevent customers from cheating the system that allowed many of us to visit the resort several times a year. Well thats over now and theres noone to blame but ourselves.

Completely disagree with your post. Disney is a business. They are not stupid. They want people to visit several times a year and stay on property. They knew people would book and then rebook when discounts came out but they also knew a room at a discount beats an empty room and therefore the AP and other discounts were during periods of excess rooms.

People are not cheating the system they are just shopping smart like they do at grocery stores, auto dealers etc.

I have been to WDW over 50 times and I am not a local. In fact I live over 1000 miles away. Do you think I and others would have made so many visits without the AP discounts. Did I cheat Disney. Hum, they have made over $50,000 off me what do you think?

Exactly what I was saying. We haven't cheated the system at all. I have been to Disney World 24 times, and I'm not even 18 yet. Just think how many times my parents have been and how much they've spent before I even started going. They were at the opening day of Epcot! Granted, they couldn't get in becuase the parking lot closed at like 8AM...

Maybe its not because people are playing the system maybe Disney has lots of rooms filled and if they can fill them at full pop and not a discounted rate maybe thats what they are doing. I don't think anyone is at fault I think business is picking up thats all.

Without a AP discount, I wouldn't go as often as I do. Once they get me on property, I spend large sums of money sometimes. Its strange why they would make it harder for me and my open wallet to get onto their property.

With the AP discount I always stay deluxe, and even after my discount, i still spend more money than Value guests at peak prices.

Once they notice a money loss, you see how quickly the rules get revised again.

The rooms aren't filling up, when i worked at the Grand Floridian, we were always at 40% capacity most times, with few exceptions.
