Hope for Horizons fans

I'm sad to say I never experianced Horizons... is there anything that currently compares to it? Was it much more impressive than Spaceship Earth? I've heard people say Horizons was Disney's greatest achievement.

There is a tribute video on this site, but still, nothing compares to having ridden it. It was one of my all-time favorites. I would say that I liked it better than Spaceship Earth, even back when Spaceship Earth was better. Back when it had the astronauts working in space and all the other good stuff that made it really cool. I loved all the AA figures and it pretty much had a storyline as well. I don't know if it would be Disney's "Greatest Achievement" or not, but it was excellent.

I can't remember/never got to ride Horizons, can't remember which. Its a shame that it went, but considering I can't remember it and that I love Mission:SPACE, its not such a big deal for me, sorry to all you fans out there.

I didn't realise threads sat dormant on here for three years! Is this thread under 'seasonal' operation!? :sohappy:

I, too, thought some part of Horizons was being revived somewhere. LOL. Turns out it was just an old thread. Oh well.

Where is Horizons??

While the Horizons building may be going away, you can look for more than 1,000 props and other show elements from the pavilion to appear in other attractions worldwide, from Walt Disney World Resort to Tokyo DisneySea," says Mike Lentz, director of attractions development for WDI. "Much of the building itself will be recycled following the demolitions process, which will take place over the next five months."

Sorry if this sounds like an amateur question, but I was just wondering, where is the Horizons building located in Epcot?? Would I be able to see it if I went to Epcot, or is it inaccessible?

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but you can no longer see the Horizons building. It was demolished in 2000. For more information on the demolition of Horizons go to The Horizons Tragedy . Very sad to see it go :(

I was at WDW when it was being demolished. I actually felt happy and optimistic watching it slowly be torn down.

I feel the same with the Sub Lagoon and residental street.

I had a dream that Horizons was open last night! No way was it the old pavilion, but I remember a slightly changed ride with a LOT things being taken apart! Jules Verne's animals were covered over with towels. . . all kinds of odd things.

Then the wallpaper was removed in one scene. (Oddly, a section turned into the Haunted Mansion!)

Just thought I'd share.
