Hoop Dee Do Review Question : Is the upstairs that bad?

I am taking a Disney Trip which came up pretty fast.. no time for booking early. I have to book now for 3 weeks away..

So i wanna do the hoop de doo review.. but the only tables open for the day i want to go at 5pm are upstairs.

Should I avoid the upstairs and wait for the 9pm show and get downstair seating? But the thing is .. i wanted to be in Magic Kingdom that night and the 9pm takes that away.

Any help/advice?:drevil:

I hated the upstairs seating there was not much room there and everyone was just sitting at a long table. I would go to the later show. I dont know if you have been there before but after the times I was there I was so full when I left I just wanted to kick back and relax.

I thought sight lines were pretty good and cast does come upstairs and include people from there in the show. I prefer downstairs, but did enjoy upstairs just fine.

I agree....the upstairs is not the place I'd prefer to be but as CT mentioned the sight lines are fine....probably better than those on the rear tables on the floor.

If those are the only seats you can get and it's the time you want to go...I'd take them.

Are you sure you've been properly informed...?

The seats aren't assigned until 48 hours prior to the show, no one in disney dining will know seating assignments short of pulling up other people's ressies during that period, and they are not to discuss that information with you.

The tables seat X number of people, some are 2's some are 6's, some are 3-4's or what have you, Some also combine. They start plugging in seats according to party size and who booked when. Some parties who booke dearly may end up upstairs while some who booked late might be downstairs. Tables are assigned on who fits where, with some consideration to who booked when.

They wait until 48 hours prior because they can't figure that out without knowing all the party sizes.

PS: If table location was discussed with you by.. say.. Concierge...

Let me know some names and numbers :) I'll be happy to talk to them about discussing table locations :)

We got seats upstairs to the left of the stage, right next to the wall. While the cast was on the front of the stage or in the audience, it was OK, but the second the took a step back on stage, they disappeared. At that point the show became sound only for us. We were really disappointed. Other seats upstairs looked like they got a good veiw though.

I'd agree. We have sat upstairs a few times and were only on the main floor once. Still enjoyable. I'd say go for it.

We've done this show every year for about 12 years now. We've been upstairs twice, and honestly, those were some of the best seats we've ever had. Sometimes, downstairs you can only see part of the stage. Upstairs you get a nice overview of everything. And I think there's more cast interaction with the people "on the shelf"

My family has been in the upstairs section twice. It was very nice. You didn't have as many people around you and like others have already said, the cast of the show involves the guests upstairs too. If it fits into your schedule better, just go for the 5pm show.

I've sat upstairs and had no problem seeing anything. We actually got to participate in it when they do the "Where are you from" thing...... Imagine the jokes when we said "Alabama!" It was really funny.
