Hook vs. Pooh

A few years ago (im guessing about 8) the magic kingdom had some thing where people voted for either Pooh or Capt. Hook. What was that all about, when did it end, and how did it end? thanks.

It was called the Main Street Mascot Election. I'm not sure as to when it began and ended. I only remember it running during the summer months. I still have a ballot from the event.

I remember the day(s) that it happened. I believe it was during the twenty fifth anniversary, and I think the day we went Pooh won, but Im not sure...

My memories are a little fuzzy, but I think it was a daily eleection and they announced the winner in the afternoon from the train station overlooking Mainstreet.

This may have been part of the "Pooh for President" campaign/parade in the 70's. I need to track down some of that information. . . I know it can be found in "Disney - The First 100 Years" by Dave Smith. . . but I don't recall reading about Hook.

Now that you mention it, I DO remember the Pooh vs. Hook campaign" - and I think it was around the time of the 25th anniversary. (Maybe my memory was fogged by that bright pink castle...:lol: )

That's why my memory is a bit hazy from then. I've been trying my best to forget that pink mosntrosity. :lol:

yupp it was a pooh vs Hook thing......and i dont kno how many different winners there were but the day i was there Hook won and then it was supposed to b like the Pooh gang all came out and took him down...tigger, piglet and pooh then they supposivly won then after that....i dont really remeber tho



oh and ys every1 make fun of the pink castle....i agree with the fact that the regular was better but 4 a year it was fine and a good idea

A bear with very little brains versus a pirate for mayor of Main Street. Don't you love politics? Was THIS election the beginning of the problems that now dog Michael Eisner? The timing sounds about right! :lol:

I remember being in the park two or three times when this was going on, and some people would wear a sticker announcing "I voted for Pooh," or vice versa. Maybe because Pooh always won it was discontinued!

Hook won more than he lost, really? That is funny, and a little surprising to me. Pooh always won on the days I was there, as I remember.

Still, of the people who voted at the Magic Kingdom, more voted for a vicious pirate than for the good natured, unassuming, silly ol' bear, AND DISNEY BUILT HIM HIS OWN RIDE ANYWAY!!! :lol: :lol:
