:animwink: thanks!

Here is a new one and the last for tonight... this was taken at a shopping center called "La Isla". Very nice place by the lagoon. It has fountains like the ones in Epcot next to the Imagination Pavillion that were made by the same guy. This is a pic of one of them like the one in Downtown Disney.

Since we had an 18 months old in the family, we had to stay where the water is very calm and there are no big waves or deep shores, so we stayed at the Calinda Viva Hotel which is located in which for me is the best relaxing beach: the one in the 8th km. of the hotel zone, near Punta Cancun ( From Presidente Intercontinental, Kin-ha, Viva, Fiesta Americana Cancun to Camino Real and F.A. Coral Beach hotels) if you look at a map of the hotel zone. We stayed hours in the water!

We also like the area around the 12th km but only when you are in the mood for a great scenery and fighting waves. When we go that area (Sheraton, Royal Resorts) then you can only stay too long in the water... after a little while it gets too tiring!

Hope this helps anyone tryin to book a trip! hehehe :animwink:

Of course it rings a bell! You are going to have a lot of fun! It´s one of the biggest hotels in the hotel zone and has the longest pool! 1km long!! that´s about half a mile! I thought I had a picture of it, but my sister says it´s the Meliá, the hotel next door...but they are VERY similar, so I´ll post one for you! hehehe :animwink: lol!

I´m bummed I don´t have a pic of the Oasis... that is the one I ws trying to take! Same thing with Madonna´s house...everytime we passed by it, a tree got in the way of the many pics I took of it! None was good! They were all taken from the car though... I saw the house from the shore too but I was on a waverunner and couldn´t have my camera with me then. :animwink:

Here is another pic. This one is the JW Marriott.

Thank you for posting the pictures Maria. It looks absolutely gorgeous there. There are so many places I would love to see. My Grandmother was this carefree spirit who travelled all over, she would just go (of course that wasn't always a good thing for the family) but I think I have a part of her in me. There are so many places I dream of seeing.

(And as always, you look beautiful in all your pics)

Hey..........what were you doing in my neck of the woods. You are traveling east across the bridge going into Destin, "The World's Luckiest Fishing Village", looking South toward the East Pass going into the Gulf of Mexico!! We were out in the boat a couple of weekends ago and pulled the boat onto the shores of the pass to swim. It is beautiful!!

Interesting the number of "stars" who have found this wonderful little spot of heaven!! Brittney Spears and Justin Timberlake were here last summer, Jim Carey filmed the Truman Show just east of here at Seaside (by the way, my boss owns The Truman House at Seaside), Joe Piscapo (sp?), Frank and Laurie from Trading Spaces have been here. Of Course way back when......the singing group Heart performed on the beach. Many more have been here, I just can't remember all at this time. It really is a beautiful place to visit.

Do you live here or were you just visiting?

Maria........I would love to travel to Mexico at some point in my life and one day I will. It is so beautiful there. Thanks for sharing all the pictures. I love to see other parts of the world and hope I get to see most of them before I am too old to enjoy it.

This is my closest beach. It´s Port Progreso. The sand is still WHITE, but not as fine as the one in Cancun that feels like talcum powder! :animwink: Look a lot like Clearwater beach as it is on the other side of the Gulf!

You know, I´ve seen pictures of Chicago during the summer and that lake looks AWESOME! Looks like the sea! amazing to me! I need to go to Chicago!

Progreso is only 36 kms from Mérida, the capital. It takes me 25 mins. to get there on a straight road that is now an avenue. :animwink:

my suggestion....check out the beach reports before you go. there are usually a few beaches closed because of water contamination.

but I think they usually happen during the first few weeks of summer.

though, any park in chicago is nice to kick back and play some good ol' sports, and get a tan. :)
