I wasn't sure where to post this, so if its in the wrong spot, sorry

I am thinking about making an autograph book for my DD and was wondering if anyone else has done this or has suggestions or pictures.

Thanks :)

I'm planning on making my own but I'm not sure i'm going to have it done before we go down.

I'm thinking about having them sign pieces of vellum and then making scrapbook pages when I get home and designing them around the autographs.

I'm also thinking about giving each character two pages, one for the autograph and one for the picture with the character.

What did you use for the book? any pictures?

The first time I just used a sketchbook and glued clipart in, but that didn't come out as well as I would have liked. However, the 2nd time I took pieces of cardstock and printed on clipart. Then you can either bind them together to make a book, or put the cards in an album or scrapbook.

And I will have pictures on later.:)

When we went in September, I brought a 6 X 6 scrapbook with toploading pages - it's like 3.99 at AC Moore. I also bought all kinds of cool 12X12 papers and cut them down to fit in the book. I went with the small size because it neatly fit in my Vera backsack.

When we saw the characters, they were excited to sign their pages - especially Figment!

It's fun to use different colors for them as well. We were fortunate enough to meet Captain Jack Sparrow and he signed his pirate paper!

A great tip - bring a silver sharpie marker for characters to sign on dark and black pages. Bring a second silver sharpie in case the first gets lost like mine did - I was really upset when we lost it in Epcot after getting our first autograph and we ended up buying the gel pen pack which worked okay, but not as good as a silver sharpie would have.

Thanks and enjoy! It's part of the fun in making the book!!!! :sohappy:

On our kids' 1st WDW trip, we bought 1 autograph book for them to share.

This year, I found 3 books w/ Disney characters on them at a dollar store (Cinderella, Pooh & Tigger).
They were small, spiral notebooks w/ hard covers & a magnet to keep them closed.
I also purchased light-up Disney character pens for $1.00 each to match the characters on their books.

I actually spent less on the books & pens for this year & they each got their own book! :D

How did you decide which characters to make pages for? There are so many?? That is another problem I am having :)

I have done my own books twice. Once with a 6x6 and another time with 8x8. I liked the 8x8 better only because it made room for larger pictures if I had one that happened to come out amazing. If you are worried about the size of it to carry around then go 6x6. Either way they are really fun. The only thing I hesitate to do is pre-theme the pages too much. We made one for Snow White and never found her so that page is wasted. I now do the vellum like you are thinking. Just remember that vellum needs a permanent marker. Ball point pens can rip the paper or do not glide smoothly enough.

HAVE FUN!!

I had an idea - like I wanted Ariel to sign the paper that had bubbles on it, Capt. Jack to sign the black skull paper, I had Neverland paper (purchased at the craft store) for Peter Pan and Wendy but I didn't find them. I will save it for next time.

I didn't have anything really set in stone, just an idea of what I wanted. I wrote their names at the top of their pages really lightly in pencil to help me remember throughout the parks.

I'll try to post pictures when I get them done. I also did an 8X8 Scrapbook for our trip last May. I didn't use this as an autograph book, though. I like it because it is bigger but with the 6X6 it allows you to get more creative with how you lay it out. I also let them sign the one page and left the adjacent page blank for the picture. You can squeeze a 4 X 6 picture there by cropping the edges of the photo.

It's so much fun I may work on it after work tonight!
It helps me get my Disney fix even when I don't have my next trip planned for awhile.

I saw someone else do this during my last trip. A family had printed pictures of their daughter with the characters from their previous trip, then asked the characters from the current trip to sign the pictures. The father told me they were going to put the pictures in an album when they got home.

Here are some of the cards that I made out of cardstock. Another idea I did was I used index cards. Then I took a photo album and put the cards in one slot, and the pictures in another one. Sort of like a homemade photo autograph book. I will put pictures of that up later.
