Hollywood & Vine VS Mama Melrose

Which one has the better food selection for lunch?

Mama Melrose has the same menu for dinner and lunch. We personally like Mama Melrose much better. Are you looking for a character meal or just wanting to know about food? Mama Melrose is mainly Italian while H&V is a buffet. We have not had the best experience and H&V and will only do breakfast there if it makes the list. Have you checked out the menus here on wdwmagic?

I looked on the disney site for the menu, and wasn't impressed with the selection from both places. I'm not too worried about doing a character dinning because we already have two of those reserved. We're on the dining plan and doing the fantasmic package. I was just wondering which restaurant would be better.

Mama Melrose is one of our favorite restaurants! If you like Italian at all, that's the place to choose. Enjoy your trip!

I'd agree with Mama Melrose. I personally don't think Hollywood & Vine is as bad as a lot of people make it out to be, but nothing about it is particularly better that Mama Melrose - food, atmosphere, value. So I'd go with MM.

I will differ on the consensus here. I've eaten at both and preferred H&V. MM is ok for Italian fare but nothing special. The atmosphere is nice and cozy (some say crowded because limited floor space) but I would generally only go to MM if I couldn't get a seat elsewhere. H&V is a buffet so there are drawbacks there as well, but the salmon is really quite good! Additionally I would offer the 2 perennial favorites in our family which are Primtime (oh the pot pie!) and Scifi.

I asked a very similar questions several years ago when I was trying to decide between restaurants for the F! dining package. I was strongly advised to go with Mama Melrose. So, we went with that and it was OK. I have only eaten breakfast at H&V, so I can't speak for the quality of the lunch or dinner food and if it matches the many negative opinions I've seen.

I will say this, the setting at Mama Melrose was nicer but the service at H&V was considerably better...which is saying a lot when buffet service is noticeably better than a menu restaurant.

As for the food at MM, DH and I got the steak and that was good. It's the best 1-credit steak we've had at WDW. My parents got Italian dishes and thought they were average at best. Still, I've heard this mediocrity is better than what you'll find in food at H&V lunch or dinner.

I've eaten at both and always preferred Hollywood and Vine, although I know I'm in the minority. I've always enjoyed their selections and variety. Happy choosing.

I'd say look at the menus and decide which one has the type of food you like better. They both feature solid, but unspectacular food so I'd go with which ever one has the options you enjoy most.

MM is comparable to your local Olive Garden if your local Olive Garden knew the district manager was performing a spot inspection that day so everyone was on their best behaviors.

I think the food at H&V isn't even that good, the atmosphere is like a high school cafeteria and the din of noise borders on insufferable, even by WDW standards.

Hollywood and Vine very good first time past Nov. did not care for Mama Melrose very dated in there slow service and better Italian food at Fazollis Our opinion.

Both r meh the food is average leave the park and go to a resort in general all Hollywood studio food sucks
