Hollywood&Vine or Mama Melrose?

I'm trying to figure out where we want to eat so that when our 180 day mark hits in a few weeks, we're all ready to go.

The Fantasmic is a must for us, and we'd like to do one of the three Fantasmic packages, but I can't decide between Hollywood & Vine and Mama Melrose. We have the dining plan, and I'm not convinced I want to use two table credits for Hollywood Brown Derby (I think I'd rather use 2 on Le Cellier). We went to Mama Melrose in 2007 and it was pretty bad. Very crowded, poor service, and our food came out burned. All of it. However, it could have just been a really off day for our server or maybe they had a new cook or manager or something. The reviews I've read say that H & V and Mama Melrose are ranking pretty much the same, but I thought I'd see what your opinions are.

We seem to eat at Mama's every trip (choses are just so limited at HS) We have also had a good and bad here. THis year was pretty good. Service was much better and everything was good with the exception to the pork chops (way to salty DH could not eat them) As for the BD..given the menu options we have only been here once....and it was about 10 years ago. DH was turned off and we have never given it a second chance....like to do every other place. I would say go to Mama's and this way your save a credit for La Cellier like you said and if Mama's is less than perfect it only cost you one credit. oh and Hoollywood and vine...we plum just did not care for it....sorry almost forgot at it.

I've been to Mama Melrose a number of times and haven't had a bad meal. It might not be the best place in WDW, but I think that it consistently delivers a pretty good meal.

We have tried Hollywood and Vine twice and are not fans. It is a buffet and not a good one. Of everywhere I have eaten at WDW that is my least favorite. Never tried Mama Melrose's but it has to be better and I do want to try it sometime.

We ate at Mama Melrose earlier this year (January), and I have to say it was pretty good. All the kids (we went with some family friends) seem to like it as well. Our food was good, service was good, although we had a long (almost 30 minute) wait to get seated despite our reservations. I definitely liked it better than Brown Derby, which we did in 2010. Not my cup of tea there.

We're planning to go to Hollywood & Vine for breakfast on our next visit, so I'm interested to see others' opinions as well.

Mama Melrose's! Hollywood and Vine gets packed and since it a buffet it can get a little crazy too. I prefer the quiet, out of the way comfort of Mama's and the food is great as well.

I would agree with the majority on this one....mama melrose if given the choice of the two. Hollywood and vine is very loud and very crowded. Not one of the better buffets on property. Did you consider 50's cafe or sci fi?? I would also save my credits for le cellier over brown derby anytime.

Yes, we are planning on doing 50's Prime Time, but I was wondering about H&V or Mama Melrose because of the Fantasmic! options they have.

We make a point every trip to dine at MM. Sometimes we end up there twice and on a nine day trip in 2009 we were there three times. Never had a bad meal. Never had bad service. Waiting staff there is impeccable.

We did dinner the first time as part of the Fantgasmic package and this past time we did lunch because my son likes Playhouse Disney. I just didn't like the place or food at all either time. We also had the hugest hassle with our dining plan there.

I have never eaten at Mama Melrose, but I have eaten at Hollywood and Vine and would never eat there again. It's an overpriced, low quality buffet.
