Hollywood Studios expansion news!

Honestly at this point ANYTHING happening at DHS would be a huge step up. DHS has a special place in my heart, since both my grandparents worked there, and so did I for a time. But nowadays, when I think about going to the parks, Studios never comes to mind. I get bored so easily there, because i've seen/done everything a million times. (well except Fantasmic! I never get bored with Fantasmic)
Funny, of the 3 night time shows, Fantasmic! is, by far, my least favourite.
DHS for me, is a half-day park 4 or 5 times per 10 day trip, whereas DAK is our half-day park once, and once only.
Pretty boring for EMH though. We will be doing it this year, only because of a late ADR @ Sci-Fi, and Osborne Family lights.

Getting back on topic... (and wow! I haven't posted in ages. Been lurking though).

Any news for DHS will be expected. I haven't been there since the late 90s but from what I have heard... So I was thinking: I know everyone wants that Tron E-Ticket that's going into Shanghai and I saw someone post in here that they thought it'd fit better at DHS...and I agree. However, I don't think the facade should be like what we have seen in the concept art....

What about a complete recreation of Flynn's Arcade on the outside and the que can be the same on the inside? Wouldn't that fit more in DHS? Just me thinking out loud...carry on!

That is one narrow definition, but there are others.

I will concede there are additional definitions.. including ones referencing having information. But I still hold to the idea that simply someone sharing something with you, doesn't make you the insider. That is different from having access to the information yourself. And in the context of this 'sphere.. I think the ability to get the information yourself, vs simply having it relayed to you, is the more significant factor. It's akin to the idea of what is your scope of knowledge constrained by... simply by what is given to you.. vs being able to expand it yourself. It's like people that can regurgitate information vs. people who understand the concepts and can create their own knowledge.

It's like someone says 'meg lives in a blue house'.. and now you know she lives in a blue house. But then someone asks you 'how big is it?' - and you have no idea and can't answer. Because you don't actually have any direct knowledge of her house, you only know what was repeated to you. You have no direct knowledge of it yourself. I think that's an important distinction.. especially when talking about not just 'what'.. but 'why' as we do in these discussion forums.

I doubt they would bulldoze LMA for a TRON ride, but the Flynn arcade exterior idea you talk about would actually integrate well into the Streets of America without any visual disruption if they put it there.

You're right, they probably wouldn't. I'm not sure what they should do or not do with LMA (I am a huge Tron fan though and would love to see it represented somewhere in the parks, and I think DHS is the best fit) but I do think something should be done. And that's actually what I was thinking, putting the arcade on the Streets of America. I'm sure room could be found. I'm not in the opinion that the BacklotTour or LMA should be removed and something else plunked into it's place, but I think even little things like a Flynn's Arcade or a Star Wars Cantina Restaurant would add something to DHS and give it some energy it needs.

I really like the show, but the line and wait is excruitating and takes away much of the experience.

Definitely. The most excruciating part is that terrible music they play, the pop versions of classic Disney songs. For some reason they've turned "Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?" into some kind of 50 Cent-type rap song and it's terrible. On days I know I'm seeing Fantasmic!, I make sure I have my iPod with me.

on a tid of a sidenote i liked LMA aside from the annoying interruptions..however i will admit it is a once and done show for sure especially in blistering heat. Again i would also admit the space could be better served...part of me is not kine on cloning "although i know every major chain theme park is guilty" but the other part of me says jeez anything would be better than the current line up.

also im sort of curious... Of the pre-existing DHS buildings what currently is empty in total? i know the building that housed Narnia and now pirates can be somewhat classified as one. and the building a bit behind that? the one rumored to be the best site for monsters inc? and than is drew carry and american idol still in operation?
and to take my question a step further what if any empty space is behind the scenes where the working studio per say once operated?

Toy Story is so beloved. I think I would start a Toy Story maybe table service or a new and improved Pizza Planet and movie it by Pixar. Free up that space for something else. Maybe some of the thing that have been discussed on this thread.

Yes, I can see that too. But I don't mind shows that stay consistent. I still enjoy Carousel of Progress.
Same here. There are so many Disney attractions that are still there and although the young kids think they are cheesy, they are still classic attractions. Fantasmic is one of those classics that should stay the way it is. (With a few upgrades and fixes as needed)
