Regardless of what one things regarding the bill that started this Disney vs. DeSantis showdown, one does not have to worry yet regarding Reedy Creek.

The bill would not take effect until June 1.

If DeSantis loses in November, the Democratic opponent would naturally move to reverse that and keep the Reedy Creek Improvement District intact.

I imagine there might even be a lot of people that will vote Democrat, regardless of their personal feelings or affiliation, solely to keep Reedy Creek intact and prevent Orange and Osceola County residents paying the debt tabs.

Even if Chapek isn't front and center, Disney could easily spend a lot in donating to DeSantis' opponent and pull out the stops on this one eleection.

Then, regardless, at this point, Chapek's contract may simply expire at this point, simply because the Reedy Creek flashpoint was too much for the board.

The stock price is directly linked to Disney +.
You mean like how when D+ was introduced and subs increased the stock went up?

And initially, during lockdowns, subs increased and the stock went down?

And when it was clear Disney would survive lockdowns and subs went up, then the stock went up?

And once investors removed wealth from companies that they were sure were going to survive and moved it back into other companies, and subs went up, the stock went down?

One factor is moving in one directions (subs going up) and the other factor wildly swung up and down (stocks).

Is that your definition of "directly linked"?

Since this has no basis in reality I’m not sure how to respond.

Prediction: Modest dividends announced at next Quarterly report. That should shore up the stonks.
NEWS FLASH: Pretty much everything in the Market is dropping at the speed of sound. It is not specifically a Disney problem. It is a national problem. Chapek had nothing to do with all the rest of the lower prices. Disney is just in the general decline. It may be an adjustment that has been expected for a long time, selling off to take profits and use to buy back at a lower price or a genuine decline.

Why? Up until this recent kerfuffle, it was largely the democrats who questioned whether corporations should have special privileges such as this. The democrats may be loathe to strip Disney of this benefit now because of the underyling motive for which the republicans are acting, but I don't think they are anxious to reestablish it, either.

Up is down, black is white. California is tweeting that it is the business friendly state? What-the-what?

The fact that Chapek is still being kept in the basement is very telling - any other company that is all over the news would have the CEO front and center fighting this battle.

Unlike a president who can hide, but has surrogates in the media, congress, etc to fight their battles, this is getting really embarrassing for a public CEO.

Imagine if this was happening to Tesla (like his fight with CA that lead him to move to Austin) - Musk would be owning the conversation.
Hey now. Bob was just out at DL shaking hands with a few of the unwashed masses. Without handlers and his name tag! He’s obviously a man of the people!!!

Actually that was kind of risky.

What if one of the guests started to ask for a response to what’s going on in Florida?

I’m not certain he is even trained to handle a situation like that.

He could have blurted out an answer making things substantially worse.
