Disney put out a press release today for the holidays. No mention of Peace on Earth finale for IllumiNations. Just missing from the copy, or cut? @marni1971 have you heard anything this year?

Epcot

· New Holidays Around the World Marketplaces – Explore what the holidays taste like around the globe at five new marketplaces: indulge in duck confit and dumplings from the Alpine Haus Marketplace, celebrate with the shredded beef tamale from the Three Kings Feast Marketplace, toast with Williams Punch from the Germany Marketplace, and more.

· Holidays Around the World entertainment – Enjoy the sights and sounds of the nations of World Showcase, as each country’s holiday heritage comes to life amid joyful music and time-honored traditions.

· A cherished Epcot tradition, the Candlelight Processional captures the spirit of the season in the retelling of the Christmas story by celebrity narrators, accompanied by a 50-piece orchestra and choir. The Candlelight Processional is performed three times each evening, 5:00, 6:45 and 8 p.m. at America Gardens Theatre from Nov. 25-Dec. 30. Narrators in 2016 include Neil Patrick Harris, Whoopi Goldberg, Stephen Curtis Chapman, Meredith Vieira, and Cal. Ripken, Jr. Candlelight dinner packages are available through Disneyworld.com/holiday.

It'll be back again this year. Looks like it just got left off with all the new stuff announced.

I am so excited about this. Disney, Christmas, AND food?! I'm in heaven. The slow roasted turkey looks amazing. And I'll definitely be stopping by the Alpine House for the "duck confit, dumplings and roasted Brussels sprouts with a fig reduction." Spiked peppermint hot chocolate, chocolate honey baclava, and a French chocolate yule log? Yes please. I want all of the treats.

I specifically said epcot has a lot of problems that need fixing. I don't think food booths are one of them.

Overpriced? yes, but so is everything at theme parks.

Don't like the good quality? A lot of people do like them. Different tastes.

And the money should come into play in these discussions. Fixing future world takes money.

So, I don't see how something that fits the themes of world showcase, is popular, is well liked, and brings in money is a bad tthing?

I think those upcharge type stuff are pretty harmless. People who like them like them. I don't drink and my family's pretty broke, so i don't really do a lot of them. Back when we had more money, the Halloween and Christmas parties at the magic kingdom were fantastic!

I haven't, unfortunately, gotten to spend as much time in the parks the last few years. I was there for a week over the summer and for the weekend two week ago though. None of that stuff seemed intrusive to me and my friends who have some dessert parties and stuff loved it.

As long as it isn't intrusive oor breaking the theme, I see no problem. People like them and they fit the theme.

Sorry, but I happen to love the "mediocre" food and drinks at Epcot. I'm on vacation, so eating something I wouldn't normally cook, cooked and cleaned up by somebody else is priceless! Go ahead and bash my taste and lack of culture - don't care! I'm making a list of all of those yummy things I can't wait to try while we're there in Dec!

I think the saturation of food kiosks most of the year though, kinda ruins the special-ness of visiting EPCOT for Food and Wine Festival... (except for PFTS) ...it is becoming the norm and not a special reason to make an extra trip... Why plan a second trip in the fall when now I can get the same Food and Wine offerings in the Spring?

I think someone pointed out it's really only half the year with the kiosks. But you are right, if you do plan trips twice a year, it may seem like they never leave.

Please can we have a holiday thread that is void of all of the bashing and negativity!!

I am very excited for our first holiday visit this year. I think the World Showcase is going to be a highlight of the trip...I'm probably going to cancel a breakfast ADR just so I can eat more at the kiosks..lol. We do have a CP dinner package as well..definitely wearing leggings that day!

As for the dessert parties- I have 1 booked at HS and still hoping that someone will cancel and I will be able to book another for our MVMCP night.

We are doing several "up charge" and "extras" this trip..bc of all of the Christmas events. If someone planned a trip this time of year then they're probably OK with it.

Let us just bask in our excitement. :)

Well, I will definitely have a fun time. Not everyone enjoys the same things in life. So, not only will I enjoy the food and drinks at Epcot, but I'm also going to the dessert party at DS AND have a FP+ for Frozen! So chew on that for a while!
And, no I don't agree with everything TWDC does. But, I realize that some things I don't like, someone else loves. If I don't like it or don't see the value in it for my family, I just don't do it. The Disney movies, characters, and experiences I grew up with are different than the ones my kids grew up with, and are different than the ones today's children are growing up with. Doesn't make any of them better or worse than the others. For instance, I know there are a lot of Frozen haters out there, but I have very personal reasons why that movie touches my heart. And THAT's what Disney has always done so well, and continues to do - creates experiences that touch the heart. So everyone go out and enjoy your Disney vacation in your own way, and if you don't enjoy your Disney experience anymore, than maybe you need to find a new destination.

I'm trying to recall the theme of this thread...oh yah Holidays Around Epcot 2016. I picked EPCOT for our park for Thanksgiving. Unfortunately wasn't able to snag the FP for the Frozen ride, but we did ride it opening day this past June and my travel party doesn't consist of a plethora of young girls so it's doubtful anyone really wanted to give up the FP for Soarin or TT for it anyways. I am looking forward to the Christmas topiaries at EPCOT and it will be a first for several in my travel party to experience the new Soarin over the World rather than Soarin over California...I'm another one happy about the food booths for the holidays because I think a mass of sampling at those booths will work for our supper, since we are dining early at Captains Grille for our Thanksgiving meal. I thought about doing the Illuminations dessert party that night but it's not offered on the 24th.

I'll jump on in as a fellow "sucker" that's also excited for her first trip to the Worlds during the holiday season. I didn't realize that the WS had special food booths so I was thrilled to learn about that. Now with all the talk about Illuminations Holiday show, I think I'll be adjusting my touring plan to spend more time at Epcot during my short stay. I try to do something new during every trip as I can feel my DB getting a little restless with each trip that seem to be pretty repetitive so I'm pretty excited to tell him about all of the fun little additions to each park for the season.

I for one am really excited about this. My family has never spent the holidays at Disney. It's a shame that we will not see the Osborne lights, but I am really looking forward to some holiday treats (yum!) and Learning about Christmas around the world (as I eat even more treats). I guess I'll need to pack clothes with elastic waistbands.
I just received my Shakeology from Beachbody in the mail yesterday. I am on a mission to lose 7lbs before this trip.. I call it "preemptive dieting"...I'm quite sure that I'll put the 7lbs right back on during our 10 days there.. This way I'll still be able to fit in my clothes.lol

I am planning on packing a lot of leggings though, just in case. ;)

I go because I want to go. But I won't participate in the gimmicks and up-charge events that detract from the park. Why should I have to settle for mediocrity the way you are? You say you've been going for years and years, and yet you don't notice the obvious decline? Remember how Epcot was all decked out in Christmas decorations? Well that has certainly been greatly reduced over the years due to cuts. Remember when you could go to the MK and enjoy the decorations at night? Well unless you go CP night, your pretty much out of luck for most of the holiday season.

If "good enough" is ok for you then I can't change your mind, but maybe you'll think about it when you see closed attraction, broken AAs, filthy rides, and other examples of bad show.

I don't see how good booths detract from the park? I realize there are problems with epcot (major ones), but I just don't understand what those problems have to do with food booths? You do realize innoventions and UoE are both going to be replaced soon, right? That's why they haven't been kept up. The fountain and Imagination are both due for upgrades and repairs, I agree. But none of those things have anything to do with food booths!!! Food booths are there because there is audience demand for them, they fit with the themes and ideas of the world showcase (as mmentioned earlier, food is a big part of a culture), and it doesn't detract anything from the experience if you don't like them!

No one is saying good booths and stuff fix the problems so epcot, just that they like them.

Go to one of the spirited threads and join us in complaining about GotG ruining theming or even bring up your distaste for upcharge events there. But let people enjoy talking about Holiday plans and stop bringing up completely unrelated problems! there is no more connection between the fountain being crappy now and the food booths for Christmas than there is between your zodiac sign and how wet you get when you ride splash mountain.
