Disneyland will celebrate the holidays from November 12, 2012 through January 6, 2013. The Disney Parks Blog has a list of the upcoming events that will take place during that time, and for the first time BVS and Cars Land will celebrate the holidays with brand new decor!

Thanks for this post! I'm excited to see the decorations pop up in the parks, especially DCA. I'm anxious to see BVS and Cars Land in their Christmas decor. Disneyland is always beautiful during Christmas.

I'm really looking forward to DCA's Christmas decorations this year.

BlueSkyDisney is reporting the following that I really LOVE for the Santa meet and greet!!! I wonder if the BVS tree will be the oddly shaped one that has been in Paradise Pier over the past few years of if it will be a new one on the scale and elegance of the Disneyland tree.

Walking into Elias, you'll get the feeling you've entered an early Macy's store, complete with a display set up for that jolly old man himself. That's right, Santa will now be located inside the main store on BVS, instead of being in that little gazebo on Paradise Pier. It will evoke a very Macy's Christmas feel and Mr. Claus will have plenty of elves around him to greet kids young and young at heart.

I'd love to get a picture with Santa on BVS! I hope the tree will be like the Disneyland tree, not that I hated California Adventure's tree.

They've taken the classy route with the BVS tree.
That's excellent to hear! I like the Paradise Pier tree but when compared to the DL tree... Will Paradise Pier keep the tree?

From this video last year a quick glimpse of some decoration for BVS, maybe a concept peice? Cool to see reguardless.

Oh... my.... Gosh. That sounds fantastic! I love Disneyland's rustic Frontierland setting for Santa next to the live reindeer farm. But this just sounds so perfectly themed and fun, that it may become an instant new tradition that tops even the live reindeer at Disneyland.

The native West Coaster here should point out, however, that this won't be a "Macy's" setup, as Mr. Macy was a New Yorker who built his empire in the Northeast, from his flagship store in Manhattan. Rather, the Buena Vista Street Santa Claus will be a stylish Bullocks Wilshire setup for Southern California, themed to Elias & Co. of course.

Of course, I'm of the generation that... on a Sunday in December you got specially dressed up for Sunday School and then right after church you were driven downtown to the big, grand, fancy department store that had a massive Santa Claus display under glaring lights and four tons of glitter and tinsel. You waited in line while Mom fussed with your hair and necktie, got put up on his knee by an elf, and then rattled off your list (if you could remember it under the pressure) and posed for your picture. Do kids still do that? The setups I see at the mall now look rather casual, almost like a drive-thru window operation.

But to recreate a 1930's big city department store Santa Claus display is pure genius! And it's a theme and era no Disney park, or anyplace really, has tried to recreate. Bravo DCA!

Maybe he'll arrive on the snazzy Duesengerg they use for Five & Dime?

I'm twenty years old and I was sixteen or seventeen when I last took a picture with Santa Claus. On his lap, too! Kids are definitely still doing it, especially at The Grove. The Grove's set up for Santa during Christmas is the best I've seen. I used to go to church and do Christmas-type things too, when I was little. I still do it, actually.

Another set of poles have gone up in Cars Land on the Flo's side of the street. Turns out they're for Christmas decorations!

A second line of telephone poles has been installed along Route 66. These were designed by Disneyland’s decorating department, with heavy input from Pixar and WDI, so that a full treatment of Christmas garland can be strung down the entire street. TDA is sparing no expense for the first holiday season in Cars Land. The extra poles were installed a few weeks early in case there were any first year problems to overcome. They’ll be removed in January with the rest of the decorations, and then reappear next November just ahead of the garland.

Would love to see DCA 2.0's first Christmas. Did DL last December for a day (and actually ... UGH!! ... paid!) just to see the place in its Christmas finery for the first time since 2007.

Maybe I should book one of those Dreamliner flights I've been hankering to get on ...

That's impressive that the DCA tree is ready to go! @raven24, looks like I might have more trouble seeing the "normal" BVS and Carsland than seeing the Xmas versions!

Thanks so much for compiling all of the info, @nemofinder22!

Sure thing! If there is one more thing I like about DLR and WDW it's the holidays!

From Mousewait, an ice skating rink as popped up in DTD near ESPN Zone.

Sounds good to me as my wife and I and baby will be doing DL during the holidays for the first time this year. I'm actually more excited to take a ton of photos than rides. I really hope lines for my son to take a picture with Santa aren't too bad. We'll be there on a Monday too so I may have to wait out until then if wait times are bad over the weekend.

The Disney Parks Blog has info on the ice skating rink that will open soon.
http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/bl...-ice-skating-at-the-downtown-disney-district/
A new ice skating rink at the Downtown Disney District will allow guests to skate right into the world of Tinker Bell to celebrate the October 23 release of Disney “Secret of the Wings”! The new ice rink will soon begin limited operation, with a grand opening to follow on October 23.

And a holiday village that will open on Nov 12.
And starting November 12, a special holiday village will surround the rink, with themed chalets where guests can purchase seasonal foods and merchandise. Come stretch your wings and your skating legs at the new “Secret of the Wings” ice skating rink this fall and during the holiday season at the Downtown Disney District!
