Holiday Blues

Am I the only one that hates this time of year? The holiday decorations start coming down, radio stations go back to playing regular songs, and people lose their cheerfulness b/c the bills start pouring in. Please tell me someone else feels this way!

Im not a fan of this time of year either. You spend so much time getting ready, and excited for Christmas, then its over. Its sad, but I got thru it 15 times so far. We got a brand new year to start everything over, and the Christmas season is always coming back...

As for the taking down of decorations?!! I thought that was a 4th of July tradition?!:hammer:

Awww, Jonnie, dont be sad. Its a new year and you are off to WDW in a week or two! :)

I do know what you mean though. I noticed that while Christmas music was being played non stop on the radio from the day after Thanksgiving, it completely STOPPED the day AFTER Christmas. Just like that.

And, I too get bummed when I have to take the decorations down. I work hard to do my village and baking, and because of that, Im a bit of a grinch for a while. By the time my spirit starts to arrive, its over and the cookies are gone and the whole village has gotta come down :( Even the mall had all its decoratiosn down today.

So, here is a little  for ya, Jonnie. Hope it brightens your spirits
:sohappy:

Te Boog! Have you forgotten that we can continue the festivities? Or do I have to be Martha Stewert for you? Let's see:
The Nativity set isn't supposed to be taken down until January 6. In this time you can take the red decorations down from Christmas and add the purple and gold deco to your remaining green. I'm sure the Carnival CD is out now. and in your kitchen, the smell of a fresh baked King Cake always captivates our guests!
As far as cheerfulness, a lesson to be learned at your young age is; if you can't pay cash; you don't need it. You won't go through the grumpy period or let others get you down.
Now get moving, the crawfish are about ready too!

I think it's called post holiday blues.

I've been trying to get my tree down for 3 days now and it's stuck (fake tree). I can't get the middle section off. I guess I'll have to get my dad to come over and help.

It's sad to take the decorations down, but at the same time I'm glad to get my house back in order.:)

Jonnie, don't feel bad. You'll be in Disney in a few weeks for several months. What a dream come true. :)

Jonnie I feel the same way...though I haven't started to take down the tree & Nativity I've started to put the other stuff away.
I love the way the spirit of Christmas takes hold of everyone...maybe we can resolve to keep the spirit all year long.

(gave Josh heck for those avatars.....change them back...I have to keep double checking who you two are!!!)

I knew of an acquaintance who worked at a Christmas themed shop all thru-out her college years. She had the most upbeat personality and was always smiling. After graduation, I asked her about her experiences/feelings from working there and her reply was, "Oh, geez! Being there was always better than $e_!"

Not quite the reply I was expecting but at least she made it clear that she REALLY liked working there.

I never told her boyfriend what she said. Poor guy would've developed a complex.......

 That's what I'm going around saying about Disney now... everyone tends to laugh at me, though.. considering, well... I haven't done it yet!!! But ah well.

I cant wait to be there and meet all of you face to face!! It's going to be great!! And what are you all talking about avatars??? Whaaa?? I'm confused!! :zipit:

Debbie.. Yeah, sadly I'll be missing Mardi Gras this year. I sure will miss the king cake... my fav part of the season... my parents promised to ship me a few, though, and I might be willing to share.. maybe. ;)

Jonnie, there is a bakery in New Orleans that you can order a King cake from for Mardi Gras. I saw it on Food Channel (do I ever watch anything else? ) and I cant remember the name of it. I was going to ask you

But, dont be glum, chum. You get to go to the happiest place on earth and I get to go to work...see? Always someone worse off, even if I DID get a New Years peck on the cheek from you~know~who
 :D

btw..whats up with having Joshies avatar? Its not like you can fool us into pretending to be him. Hes just a wee bit taller than most of us, including you

Well said Debbie! :)

It´s soo good to be mexican! Our festivities started on Dec. 12th when we celebrate the Virgin of Guadalupe´s holiday. Then, the Posadas begin and then Christmas and New Year´s Eve, to stop on Epiphany Day on January 6th and have some tamales with King´s cake. :slurp: MORE FOOOOOOOOD!! :dazzle:

This whole period is commonly called "the Guadalupe- Reyes (Kings) holiday" and it´s our biggest one! :animwink:

.........and then, Carnival! :D

Oh, how I hate these times. Our tree is already down and ready to be picked up by the trash people, most of our lights our down except for some icicles at the top of our house and all the reindeer are back in their boxes, the radio station which played Christmas music 24/7 is now back to normal music, and the only Christmas stuff still up is the decorations inside my house, but those are probably coming down tomorrow or Sunday. Christmas just goes by so fast anymore....

Our stuff is still all up...and lit! We had company over tonite to visit and to see our decorations, and people will be coming tomorrow night as well! Its ok, since we have an artificial tree...but I think we are the only house in the neighborhood still all lit! Jonnie, why dont you come on over?
