Another glorious day, another glorious poll from yours truly.

Holding place in line, do you do it, do you allow it, or do you find such actions deplorable?

Now this topic is a little difficult to pass judgement on, due to the fact children play a large part in why people do this. Or people with physical disabilities, what have you.

But, somethimes you do see people who are just lazy, and send others to wait while they do something else. Chances are this has happed to you and you knew about it, or you don't care. I happen to fall in the I don't really care section of this discussion, but from my experience, ALOT of people do, as I have seen several heated arguments in line, almost always at Space Moutain for some odd reason.

So, does it bother you?

I've held the place in line for somebody (a stranger) who had to take their kid to the bathroom (very close by) and I had no problem with that as I've had little ones in that predicament myself.
I take the kids and get on line while the DH runs to get Fast Passes to our next ride (if its close by).

This doesn't bother me at all as long as it is not one person holding the place for 12 or the like.

Personally? I guess I have to big of a heart to want to a group up. It does not matter to me if they skip, mostly because I do not find it like too much of a crime. But there is a level of courtesy to it all. I would say to make sure the group waiting in line is relatively larger than the amount of people who intend to skip. Haha, now a whoooooole group such as Portuguese tourists, that may be too much to ask for.

it's not common so it doesn't bother me. i am sure most are for good reasons (potty break, buy something quick...)

i suppose if there were groups after groups i might be bothered.

A guest needing to go to the bathroom or something similar.... no problem. A single person saving a place for an entire tour group or family...big problem.

This is interesting because I saw an older gentleman go completely bananas when a mother and small child went in front of him in the line at Space Mountain.

Now, if you see a child, a smart person would assume bathroom break, but this guy went nuts...Over nothing...

Some people are selfish a-holes. Apparently you saw a person that is one.

We were queing for stitch and some wee kid bunked up the whole queue behind us and ended up infront of us playing the 'my mums up here' card! He finally stopped infront of us only to let the other 25million members of his family jump in! Not impressive!

That is the time for a talk with a CM.

A single person holding for a parent and child is ok. But if you're standing there and 4 or 5 people are now added infront of you, then that is very rude.

It goes back to the whole thing of making yourself more important than the other people in line. If you have 12 in your group and only two of you are going to wait in line while the others play around, then wait until the others are done, then hop in line.

Holding a spot for a parade or Illuminations is a different story. There is alot of time for you to pick a spot. Trying to step on my kids 5 minutes before the show starts because you waited till the last minute will result in a scene.

Agreed. Space Mountain? I guess he felt like an a$$ when he got to the load area and the cast members are pulling people out of the line behind him to fill up a car. And they do the same thing at just about any other attraction that might require a wait of over 30 minutes . . . except Peter Pan.

or maybe he didn't see the irony since he sounds like an a$$ anyway. God forbid if you have to wait for one additional ride car or even two because a couple people had to get out of the line and want to rejoin their party. That might set you back a whole 30 seconds . . . or even a minute! :lookaroun

Letting a couple of people get back to their party is not worth getting bent about.

I strongly disagree with one person getting in line, while other's go to do another attraction or get a Fastpass, and then the rest of the family joining the line at a later point. If each person standing in line were to be reserving places for an additional 3 guests, the wait times would be 3 or 4 times longer. Holding places in line makes a complete mess of standby times and fastpass distribution. The systems are not designed for one person to enter a line and then to bring in more people to another point within the line.

I fail to see why people cant wait until their entire group is together before entering an attraction. As I said before, if everyone did it, there would be chaos. What really annoys me as well, is that the people who do it think they are being really "clever" and by saving time they are some kind of experts. I would personally love to see CM eject people from the line who do this.

I agree, having had whole families of people cut in front of us after waiting a long time ourselves.....

If your far enough away from the front of the line, that you simply cannot hold your bathroom/purchase/snack emergency, then you might as well get out of line and start over again.... My two cents!

..I can't stand line butters... even from grade one that always annoyed me... *grumble*

If you have to get out of line, too bad--go to the back just like everybody else. "Holding the line" is just another way of saying "I'm the most important person here and everyone should cater to me."

BTW--my group is not allowed to cut. If we get separated, we wait for the last group, not bring them up to where we are.

I've never seen this being done for reasons related to children or disabled people. It's always been for the convenience of inconsiderate, thoughtless adults and/or teens who weren't with their party like they should have been to start with.
