Hmmm...wonder if this story is totally factual or not? if it is, must be a wonderful time to visit Disney World with shorter wait times right now!

Agree... I'm pretty confident that the reports are accurate. I've been listening to a variety of people who are saying the same things and watching a variety of in-person videos of posters in the parks filming various times of day which shows fairly empty parks. We are going back in May of 26 and that's why I'm eager to have low crowd numbers and take advantage of short wait times if this holds true. Unfortunately Dis may alter their park hours to compensate for this trend.

I was at Magic Kingdom yesterday and we are at EPCOT today. Crowds? Sure, but we have done about everything we wanted to do. No LL.
My observation from previous years is lower crowds in the parks.
YMMV

I've seen similar stories about small park crowds from local reporters as well. Disney has a bunch of things going against it right now. They've priced themselves out of reach for many middle class families, the bad publicity over pulling a comedian's show, boycotts by special interest groups, inflation and a generally poor economy. Their streaming services are evidently getting hit hard as well.

This. (I'm never sure how well boycotts by small numbers of people impact things, but you never know anymore)

And yet, Bob and Disney CFO HUGH G Johnston will talk glowingly about how strong DPEP is doing during the next quarterly meeting. Anyone who watches/listens to that meeting will need to make sure to take a copious amount of Dramamine in order to handle the spin that will happen.

Just returned from a short visit to Property.
The two days I was in the Parks, this past Friday and Monday, had crowds but nothing overly crazy.
Halloween Party on Sunday felt ‘packed’ to me…in comparison.

The interesting thing I noticed is the days I was staying at a Resort, bus lines were short to non exsistant.
The day I departed, there was hardly anyone standing at the bus stops waiting to go to the Parks in the morning on Tuesday.
Maybe a dozen people spread among the multiple bus queues.

I was stunned.
I have never seen that in all the years I have been visiting, and this was at the All Star Resorts which are typically full of families.
Those queues are usually hopping in the morning.
This Tuesday at 8:30 am, ghost town.
Where was everyone…??
Wow.

It made me wish I had booked an extra day as it seemed to me it was a great day to be in one of the Parks.
But alas, other duties called.

Perhaps folks are all just using Uber / Lyft rides now…?

For the family crowd, a growing push for school attendance and increasing pressure on parents to minimize absences could play a role. Anecdotal but it seems to be a big focus in many areas recently. The first months of school would likely be a particularly hard time to miss for a vacation.

Of your list the only one impacting the greater attendance numbers of WDW is pricing/economy.

What in the world would streaming have to do with taking a trip to WDW???

In this economy I think a lot of people just simply can’t afford or justify it, especially with the nonstop price increases and nickel and diming of everything. WDW has always been expensive but when you can literally fly to the actual French Riviera and take a vacation for the same cost as staying at Disneys Riviera Resort something has to give.

The resort discounts are nice and do help, but it doesn’t defray the dining and park costs.

Again, you’re comparing apples to oranges…the ONLY thing that’s common in your argument are vacations…when my girls were small, they had NO desire to vacation in the French Riviera…families with small children are going to opt for Disney. My DW & I never had a desire to vacation there then, now or in the future.
Are there other more value incentivizing vacation destinations? Sure, but none of those places have the mouse (at least the cartoon one).

I don’t disagree. Disney has a special place in many hearts including mine. But for your vacation dollars there are absolutely much better values out there. For a family who isn’t entirely Disney focused; they may choose something that provides more value for the money.
