OK, then I don't know why. I'm trying to stretch my mind right now in an effort to identify any animals that are in DAK that are indigenous to this continent. I can't think of any...perhaps others can. So I will go with that for lack of a better explanation.:)

They have a couple species of turtles that are from Florida. They're in Oasis but you have to be lucky to see them.

I don't know what species they specifically are, but they have river otters in DAK.

@mamamouse --- I am sure that Disney has battled this problem before. Any animal, no matter what it may be, will have a stinkin' smell that is unbarable. They may have some specially designed system of fans, or something related to that on the vehicles that keep the smells away from the guests on Kilamanjaro Safaris. I understand, though. I remember going to a zoo somewhere that had some kind of animal that was absolutely stinky!

Yeah, there are a few crazy animals in the oasis that are nowhere else in the park. I seen a kangaroo and a peacock there on my first trip to DAK. I thought I was going crazy until I got home and verified that they do have kangaroos in the oasis!

There are black bears in the Lake Buena vista area. In recent months, there have been 3 (1 adult, 2 cubs) black bears spotted more than once at Fort Wilderness Campgrounds, but none in AK.

This just shows us that bears can live in Central Florida. So, why has Disney not adopted them as an animal in DAK? Not only does "Brother Bear" feature the bear, but the newer Disney/Pixar film "Brave" features a bear or two. So, could a new attraction featuring bears be on the horizon? Only time will tell, but I enjoy reading all your comments on this forum! :)

They have American Crocodiles in Dinoland from this continent.

Also the Otters are Asian Small-Clawed otters, not from this continent.

Kangaroos are on Discovery Island, not in the Oasis.

Who needs North American Black Bears when you can have Duffy The Disney Bear!!!

But all jokes aside I'd love to see a bear or two at AK. They just look like such powerful creatures! And chuck a Panda or two in there well your at it!

Oh yeah! That's right, it is Discovery Island, not the Oasis! I have only been to DAK once, so I couldn't remember the name of where they were right off hand. I just know that they are hidden under the tree of life, in a habitat of types. Thanks for that! :)
