Wow it does look like a model. The photo really shows how be the real show building is to the right. Thanks for sharing this!
Indeed. Since the inners were built along with Disneylands version and stored, the WDW ride was operational in April 1971.

Very cool photo I like that you can see the show building even though I know that the ride is in the other building I always think that the casket scene is in the round glass part at the front of the mansion

That's where I would build my apartment in the MK!
I think it looks smaller to us from the air because from ground level we are treated to 'forced perspective' architecture......

The mansion building itself is pretty much just the space where the stretching rooms expand upward into, as well as cast bathrooms one flight up from the foyer level. That's about it.
