Disney Says Plans To Expand Hong Kong Theme Park
By Lena Lee
Dow Jones Newswire
5/26/2005

Hong Kong Disneyland doesn't open until September, but officials are already talking about expanding the theme park.
The park has room to add new attractions after it opens on Sept. 12, Disney spokeswoman Esther Wong said. "We have not fully used up our land yet," she said.

But Wong declined to give a timetable or other details for the plan, saying that the company is focusing on a successful opening.

On Wednesday, Hong Kong's financial chief, Henry Tang, told reporters that Disney plans to add more attractions so that visitors will return to the park in its second or third year of operation.

The park is a joint venture between the Hong Kong government and the Walt Disney Co. (DIS). It is being built on reclaimed land on outlying Lantau Island. Officials say the park is a key part of Hong Kong's plan to become a prime destination for vacationing families.

GREAT Picture!!!
From what I can tell (which isn't much, just construction pictures and concept art) I think I like this hotel better than The Grand Floridian at WDW.

Thanks for the pic. That was nice. Is it me, or is it a little jarring to see that hotel in an Asian setting? I guess it's just me. I guess this is what the Chinese want. An American park.

The Map at Epcot had the PotC symbol outside of the railroad tracks in Adventureland, and also showed the Autopia.

I wonder what new things they are bringing to Tomorrowland? I mean Adventureland is getting the Jungle HM and Pirate Mountain, two potentially amazing new twists on old favorites. What about Tomorrowland?....Here's to hoping Alien Encounter comes back :D

If they put Haunted Mansion in the park, what land would it go in?

It doesn't fit in Tomorrowland or Adventureland. It could go in Fantasyland, but then it would be in the same land as in Tokyo and no one could say anymore that HM is in different lands in each of the parks. I guess it could go in Main Street USA. Maybe it could be on a side street. That would be actually kind of cool. Unless another land is created other than Liberty Square or New Orleans Square then Main Street is the best place.

Actually, it's been said that the Haunted Mansion will be put in adventureland. It will be given a jungle theme.

Tommorowland is getting Autopia. And from what I have seen of its layout. The whole thing will be bigger than the rest of tommorowland. It also means no hope for Alien Encounter or many other rides unless the berm is expanded to outside Autopia and judging from the park's size, that may in fact happen.
