HKDL gets new castle, frozen land and marvel land.

Armchair Imagineering. The recent talk about the sightline of a Tower of Terror here on this thread had me thinking. When DCA was being built, management thought the new park would pull too many guests from the main Disneyland. A new planned expansion was being developed as a transition between Frontierland's Big Thunder and Fantasyland called Geyser Mountain. The Geyser Mountain concept is most similar to Florida's ToT. Guests would travel in a vehicle, going underground exploring a mine before encountering a geyser and being shot up vertically up the shaft. This ride system could work HKDL by burying part of the tower, lowering the height of the Spiderman ToT without sacrificing the thrill. I think I mentioned before that I thought the lap bar restraint in the concept render instead of regular seatbelts could hint at a higher degree of movement than vertical up and down. No good idea from Imagineering ever dies. Just my thoughts, I doubt any of this will come true though.

I mentioned (and was corrected) that penny’s bay is reclaimed land. I assumed that meant that its water table is likely very high, that is not necessarily true but the person who corrected me wasn’t sure that it wasn’t true either

The high water table might be a concern for downwards building, HK has no tunnels in the resort so I’m not sure they could go down far enough to make it worth it to help sightlines as the top of the tower would have to be less than 5 stories to not affect sightlines which implies it would have to be sent nearly 10 stories down to get a similar experience

The land may or may not have a high water table but that can be overcome with a little bit of engineering and a whole boat load of money. I do see your point that burying 10 stories would be highly impractical, but one can only dream. I do hope that it is more than just a straight drop tower, though. My mind is stuck on the concept image having a lap bar instead of seatbelts as a potential hint.

Remember Orlando was built with lap bars. Only the fact they weren’t individual forced their replacements.

Also Geyser Mountain was designed for Paris !

That is why I think the concept image of the new ToT having lap bars could be a potential hint.

My understanding was that Geyser Mountain was initially designed for Disneyland to be situated near Big Thunder Mountain. It was shelved as DCA was a disaster. The concept was then revived later for Paris to be situated near Phantom Manor.

There have been some renewed rumblings online lately about Paint the Night returning. Here is an image from a Facebook forum of the parade's fandom wiki. Another user also pointed out that a picture of the parade is still on the HKDL website.

is there a reason why PTN is just sitting backstage and not being used at all.

Is it because of low capacity or making way for Friendtastic!
or is it a logistical issue?

Might just be the park's default closing time being so early (9 PM I believe?).

I remember at some point recently I was going to give them grief for not running PTN and Momentous together...until I remembered that during my own most recent visit (2019), there was no fireworks show at all (granted, castle construction was ongoing at the time) and Paint the Night was a single showing ~15 minutes after park close. Can't speak for the rest of the year, but in June it didn't really get dark until the park was almost closed.

Paris is similar in that respect...the park closes around the time it gets dark in summer, hence usually only one nighttime thing running at any given time, period.

PTN and Disney In The Stars ran together fine till the Castle Construction.

I've lowkey been thinking of the "re-imagined" attraction ever since it was announced. Any thoughts on what this might be? I have a feeling that it's just the new rendition of Mickeys Philharmagic they're brining over here..
