Nothing has been cancelled at all.

Disney is simply playing hardball politics with the HK SAR officials.

Much the same way they purposely leaked the Shanghai news.

They aren't going to let this beautiful, but small park wither ... but the Mouse is not someone you want to do business with either as he is a ruthless little rodent.

But this is a setback, no doubt.

Years worth of a setback, really.

Disney might very well find out what trying to play hardball with the Chinese is really like. They just finished chopping the Coca Cola Company off at the knees on what would have been a very lucrative deal for Coke.

Disney still has a 43% interest in HKDL, with only about a 20% capital investment originally. Depending on how the partnership with the Chinese Government is structured they might make money or at least break even if the Park folds because of the land value. If they are trying to get exclusive merchandising, and TV rights on the mainland it's worth the gamble. They could also possibly lose access to a very lucrative market if the Chinese feel they are losing face in Hong Kong.

Considering the situation, things have been canceled and Disney is playing hardball politics with the HK SAR officials.

What are the odds that HKDL may actually forever shut down?
