There will soon be a High School Musical pep rally coming to one of the parks.
I think it will be veary popular especially with Elementary through early middles school age kids.
I can't wait till it comes to one of the parks

Yeah... Disneyland's version definitely wins this one.

While WDW's version only has 5 total "students," California Adventure's has about 16 "Students," and a much fuller show. I also felt that the WDW version tries to teach the breakdown WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too fast for the kdis that are trying to keep up! I'm 22, and a pretty decent dancer, and I couldn't even keep up with the rate they were going.

(disclaimer: I understand that this is in no way the fault of the performers, but rather whatever director was in charge of putting the show on, and whatever bean counter gave WDW its pep rally budget)

Sure... if by "soon" you mean "two weeks ago" and if by "One of the parks" you mean the Magic Kingdom - specifically Tomorrowland (Where Theming For the Future is a Thing of the Past).

Geez, I know this is a touchy subject for some folks in light of recent discussions about Disneyland Halloween offerings, but why do they continue to do so many similar entertainment offerings so.....um..... differently at WDW?

The two pics above of the WDW stage and the California Adventure stage says a lot. But in that WDW video I watched there were only five performers trying to carry this entire show. At California Adventure there are around eighteen performers for each performance and when the big pep rally float rolls in the show takes over the whole parade route. The Pep Rally at WDW looks like a little stage show in a theme park. The Pep Rally at California Adventure looks like, well.... it looks like a hyper high school pep rally!

Here's a YouTube clip of the California Adventure version of High School Musical Pep Rally. http://youtube.com/watch?v=mIEC4AmjQgI

The scale and scope and showmanship of these two shows are dramatically different. You would think a similar concept at two Disney parks would be identical, wouldn't you?

It's just fascinating to me how different the entertainment at WDW is compared to entertainment at Disneyland!

I know some of us have made fun of this in the past and although its probably just the "in thing" for a year or two I was amazed at how the kids in the audience of that video knew all the moves of the dancers.
It shows that at least for a little while this will be a pretty good draw for the 8-15 year olds.

Yea me too. It looks like a float then a stage.

Um... yeah... The DCA version actually IS a moving float. It steps off at Sun Plaza, does a show stop (aka an entire performance). After that, it moves further down the parade corridor until it's across from Golden Dreams and then does another show. There's a video on YouTube of the DCA version as well.. You can see the letters that spell out "Pep Rally" actually come off of the float at the show stop and act as mini-platforms for the performers... and there's a ladder too.. I'm assuming it's for the Bop to the Top portion...

And "more better?" That's like most smartest... Drop Dead Gorgeous anyone? :D

its pretty unbelievable the differences between the two shows. the WDW looks like some random theme park (or high school) attempting to do HSM. DCA's version is the tried and true Disney experience we all want.

Makes ya wonder what the other differences are between the parks.

The WDW version of the HSM Pep Rally will be getting a better stage in the new year. I have seen some sketches and it will look pretty cool and theme well with Tomorrowland when not in use. So look for that in the future.

Also, one reason that California can sometimes do things "better" than Orlando is the basic question of money and rules. In WDW the actors on the stage are part of the Actor's Equity Association. AEA has strict rules about who performs and because they get paid more WDW decides that there needs to be less of them on the stage. Hence three AEA and two other performers instead of the eighteen like in California. California does not have AEA, they have a different union that is not so strict about who can do what and where.

So, even though WDW desires to put on the best entertainment they can, budget restraints and Union rules can prohibit this.
But believe me they do try to put on the best possible.
And once again look for that new stage coming next year. It will look great and actually blend in with its surroundings.

Well it is not the show with the floats but I thought it was funny watching it and it is High School Musical. Here it is tell me what you think.

Jennifer (my cousin) watched that and was like "chrissie I see buzz in the audience" If you look closely you can see the back of buzz on the right side in the audience. On the left you can see what looks like a bear in the audience. At least that is what her and I see. She still is looking for the DCA full show.

Come on out and visit sometime. Once you get over the "Where's the Castle?!?" thing the first time you walk down Main Street, you'll likely be astonished at the differences. (I know I'm amazed at the differences between Disneyland and WDW) Check the Disneyland forum on this website for the other TR's from Easterners who recently visited Disneyland.

As for the union thing, I know Disneyland uses a lot of AGVA performers, and that is a notorious tough union that demands very high wages. Disneyland is, after all, about 45 minutes down the freeway from Hollywood and the entertainment unions are very, very strong in this state as you can likely imagine.

I think the union issue is a red herring. The differences here between WDW and Disneyland's entertainment offerings likely come down to two simple things; money and talent. One look at the differences between the entertainment, and even sillier things like Halloween decorations, shows you how different the two American Disney properties are when it comes to spending money and hiring talent.
